भावार्थ:
नारद आदि और सनकादि मुनिश्रेष्ठ श्री रामजी के दर्शन हेतु प्रतिदिन अयोध्या आते हैं। नगर की दिव्यता ऐसी है कि उसे देखकर वे अपने वैराग्य को भी भूल जाते हैं।
English Translation:
Great sages like Narad and the Sanat Kumars would come to Ayodhya every day just to behold the Lord of Kosala, Shri Ram. The splendour of the city was so overwhelming that even their deep sense of detachment would be forgotten.
भावार्थ:
स्वर्ण और रत्नों से बनी हुई अटारियाँ हैं, जिनमें रंग-बिरंगी सुंदर फर्शें बिछी हैं। नगर के चारों ओर सुंदर रंगीन कँगूरे वाला परकोटा बना है।
English Translation:
The city had lofty terraces crafted from gold and gems, with vibrant multi-colored flooring. All around the city stood a grand, colorfully embellished fort wall with magnificent parapets.
भावार्थ:
मानो नवग्रहों ने एक विशाल सेना बनाकर अमरावती को घेर लिया हो। धरती पर रंग-बिरंगे काँच से बनी फर्शें देख मुनियों का मन भी नाच उठता है।
English Translation:
It appeared as though the nine planets had gathered like an army to surround Amravati. The earth was paved with radiant, jewel-toned crystals that made even the most stoic sages dance in delight.
भावार्थ:
उज्ज्वल महल आकाश को छूते हैं। उनके कलश मानो सूर्य-चंद्रमा की आभा को भी लजाते हैं। मणियों से बने झरोखे चमकते हैं और हर घर में रत्नों के दीपक शोभा बढ़ाते हैं।
English Translation:
The shining white palaces reached for the sky, their domes dazzling brighter than the Sun and Moon. Jewel-studded windows glittered, and each home glowed with lamps made of precious stones.
भावार्थ:
घरों में मणियों के दीप जलते हैं, मूंगे की देहरियाँ हैं। मणियों से बने खंभे और सोने की दीवारें पन्नों से जड़ी हुई हैं, जैसे स्वयं ब्रह्माजी ने उन्हें रचा हो। सुंदर मंदिर-सदृश महल हैं, जिनके द्वारों पर हीरों से जड़े स्वर्ण किवाड़ लगे हैं।
English Translation:
Every home was lit with gemstone lamps, coral thresholds gleamed, and the walls and pillars were adorned with gold, emeralds, and rubies—crafted as if by Lord Brahma Himself. The grand mansions looked like temples with crystal courtyards and golden gates studded with diamonds.
भावार्थ:
प्रत्येक घर में सुंदर चित्रशालाएँ हैं, जिनमें श्रीरामजी के चरित्रों का चित्रण किया गया है। इन्हें देखकर मुनियों का भी मन मोहित हो जाता है।
English Translation:
Every home had exquisite art galleries adorned with murals of Shri Ram’s divine deeds. Even sages found their hearts captivated by these heavenly visuals.
भावार्थ:
हर घर में विविध प्रकार की फूलों की सुंदर बागवानी की गई है। सुंदर लताएँ सदा वसंत ऋतु की भाँति पुष्पित होती रहती हैं।
English Translation:
Every home had its own carefully tended flower garden with charming creepers of various kinds blooming like eternal spring.
भावार्थ:
भौंरे मनोहारी गूंज करते हैं। तीनों प्रकार की सुगंधित और सुखद पवनें सदा बहती रहती हैं। बालक अनेक पक्षियों को पालते हैं जो मधुर स्वर में बोलते हैं और सुंदरता से उड़ते हैं।
English Translation:
Bees hummed sweetly as fragrant breezes blew gently. Children lovingly raised birds that chirped melodiously and flew gracefully through the air.
भावार्थ:
मोर, हंस, सारस और कबूतर घरों की छतों पर शोभा बढ़ाते हैं। वे मणियों में अपनी छाया देखकर नाचने और गाने लगते हैं।
English Translation:
Peacocks, swans, cranes, and pigeons enhanced the beauty of rooftops. Mistaking their reflections in gem-studded walls for other birds, they sang and danced delightfully.
भावार्थ:
बालक तोता-मैना को “राम”, “रघुपति”, “जनपालक” जैसे शब्द सिखाते हैं। राजमहल के द्वार, गलियाँ, चौराहे और बाजार अत्यंत सुंदर हैं।
English Translation:
Children taught parrots and mynas to chant “Ram,” “Raghupati,” and “Protector of devotees.” The palace gates, alleys, crossroads, and marketplaces were all strikingly beautiful.
भावार्थ:
बाजार इतने सुंदर हैं कि उनका वर्णन करना कठिन है। वहाँ वस्तुएँ बिना मूल्य के भी मिल जाती हैं। जहाँ लक्ष्मीपति श्रीराम राज्य करते हैं, वहाँ की संपत्ति का वर्णन कैसे संभव है? व्यापारी कुबेर जैसे हैं और सभी नागरिक—स्त्री-पुरुष, बाल-वृद्ध—सुखी, सुंदर और सदाचारी हैं।
English Translation:
The beauty of the markets defied description—goods were available even without barter. In a land ruled by the Lord of Lakshmi, how could wealth be measured? Merchants resembled Kubera, and all citizens—young, old, male, and female—were happy, righteous, and lovely.
भावार्थ:
अयोध्या के उत्तर दिशा में निर्मल और गहरे जल वाली सरयू नदी बहती है। उसके किनारे सुंदर घाट बने हैं और तट पर तनिक भी कीचड़ नहीं है।
English Translation:
To the north of the city, the serene and deep Saryu River flowed, with beautifully constructed ghats and banks so clean, there was not even a speck of mud.
भावार्थ:
अलग कुछ दूरी पर वह सुंदर घाट है, जहाँ घोड़ों और हाथियों के झुंड जल पीते हैं। वहाँ अनेक सुन्दर पनघट हैं, जो स्त्रियों के लिए बने हैं। वहाँ पुरुष स्नान नहीं करते।
English Translation:
A short distance away stood a beautiful pier where horses and elephants came to drink water. There were many lovely piers meant for women to fetch water, where men did not bathe.
भावार्थ:
राजघाट सभी प्रकार से सुंदर और श्रेष्ठ था, जहाँ चारों वर्णों के पुरुष स्नान करते थे। किनारे-किनारे देवताओं के मंदिर बने थे, जिनके चारों ओर सुंदर बगीचे थे।
English Translation:
The royal pier was magnificent in every way, where men of all four varnas bathed. Along the riverbanks stood temples dedicated to the gods, surrounded by lovely gardens on all sides.
भावार्थ:
कहीं-कहीं नदी के किनारे वैराग्ययुक्त और ज्ञान में लीन मुनि और संन्यासी निवास करते हैं। वे किनारों पर सुंदर तुलसी के अनेक झुंड लगाए हुए हैं।
English Translation:
Along the riverbanks, ascetics and sages absorbed in spiritual knowledge lived peacefully. They had planted many beautiful clusters of Tulsi plants at various places.
भावार्थ:
नगर की शोभा का वर्णन नहीं किया जा सकता। नगर के बाहर भी बहुत सुंदरता है। अयोध्यापुरी के दर्शन मात्र से ही सभी पाप भाग जाते हैं। वहाँ वन, उपवन, बावलियाँ और तालाब शोभायमान हैं।
English Translation:
The city’s beauty was beyond description, and even its outskirts were extraordinarily charming. Just seeing Ayodhya was enough to dispel all sins. Forests, gardens, step-wells, and ponds adorned the area.
भावार्थ:
अनुपम बावलियाँ, तालाब और सुंदर, विशाल कुएँ शोभायमान हैं। उनकी सुंदर रत्नजड़ित सीढ़ियाँ और निर्मल जल देखकर देवता और मुनि मोहित हो जाते हैं। विभिन्न रंगों के कमल खिले हैं, पक्षी चहचहा रहे हैं और भौंरे गुंजार कर रहे हैं। रमणीय बगीचों में कोयल आदि पक्षी मानो यात्रियों को बुला रहे हैं।
English Translation:
Beautiful step-wells, ponds, and charming wells stood magnificently. Their elegant stairways and pure waters enchanted the gods and sages alike. Lotuses bloomed in many colors, birds chirped sweetly, and bumblebees hummed melodiously. The delightful gardens, filled with cuckoos and birds, seemed to beckon every passerby.
भावार्थ:
जहाँ लक्ष्मीपति भगवान् राम स्वयं राजा हों, उस नगर का क्या वर्णन हो सकता है? अणिमा आदि आठों सिद्धियाँ और समस्त सुख-संपत्तियाँ अवधपुरी में छा रही हैं।
English Translation:
Where the Lord of Goddess Lakshmi Himself reigned as king, how can one possibly describe such a city? All eight siddhis, including Anima, and countless riches and pleasures pervaded Ayodhya.
भावार्थ:
लोग जहाँ-तहाँ श्री रामजी के गुण गाते हैं और एक-दूसरे को यही उपदेश देते हैं कि श्री राम, जो शरणागतों की रक्षा करते हैं और शोभा, शील, रूप व गुणों के भंडार हैं, उन्हीं की भक्ति करो।
English Translation:
Everywhere, people praised Shri Ram and encouraged one another to worship the protector of the humble, the embodiment of beauty, virtue, and grace.
भावार्थ:
कमलनयन और श्यामवर्ण शरीर वाले, जो पलकों की भाँति सेवकों की रक्षा करते हैं, उन्हें भजो। सुंदर बाण, धनुष और तरकस धारण करने वाले, जो संतों के कमल वन को खिला देने वाले सूर्य हैं, ऐसे रणधीर श्री राम को भजो।
English Translation:
Worship the lotus-eyed, dark-complexioned Lord who protects His devotees like eyelids shield the eyes. He bears arrows, a fine bow, and a quiver and is the valorous sun that brings joy to the lotus-garden of saints.
भावार्थ:
काल रूपी भयंकर सर्प को निगलने वाले गरुड़ स्वरूप राम को भजो। निष्काम रूप से प्रणाम करने पर जो ममता नष्ट कर देते हैं, उन्हें भजो। लोभ-मोह रूपी हरिणों के समूह के शिकार राम और कामदेव रूपी हाथी को हरने वाले तथा भक्तों को सुख देने वाले श्री राम को भजो।
English Translation:
Worship Shri Ram, the mighty Garud who devours the serpent of Death, who destroys possessiveness upon a single selfless bow. He is the hunter of the deer named Greed and Delusion, and the lion who conquers the elephant of Desire, giving bliss to His devotees.
भावार्थ:
संशय और शोक रूपी अंधकार को दूर करने वाले सूर्य समान श्री राम को भजो। राक्षसों के घने वन को जलाने वाली अग्निरूप श्री राम को भजो। जन्म-मृत्यु के भय को हरने वाले, सीताजी समेत श्री रघुवीर को क्यों नहीं भजते?
English Translation:
Worship Shri Ram, the radiant sun that dispels darkness of doubt and grief, the fire that burns the forest of demons. Why should one not worship Shri Raghubir, who with Sita, destroys the fear of birth and death?
भावार्थ:
अनेक वासनाओं रूपी मच्छरों को नष्ट करने वाले हिमराशि स्वरूप श्री राम को भजो। जो नित्य, अजन्मा और अविनाशी हैं। जो मुनियों को आनंद देने वाले, पृथ्वी का भार हरने वाले और तुलसीदास के दयालु स्वामी हैं।
English Translation:
Worship Shri Ram, the icy snow that freezes and destroys the mosquitoes of desire. He is eternal, unborn, and imperishable, the joy of sages, the reliever of Earth’s burdens, and the compassionate Lord of Tulsidas.
भावार्थ:
इस प्रकार नगर के स्त्री-पुरुष श्री रामजी के गुणों का गान करते रहते हैं और कृपानिधान श्री रामजी सब पर सदा प्रसन्न रहते हैं।
English Translation:
In this way, the men and women of the city constantly sang Lord Ram’s glories, and the mine of compassion remained ever gracious to all.
