भावार्थ:
उस समय भगवान् की प्रेरणा से उनचासों पवन चलने लगे। हनुमान्जी अट्टहास करके गर्जे और बढ़कर आकाश से जा लगे॥25॥
English Translation:
Instigated by the will of Lord Hari, all forty-nine types of winds (believed to be unleashed by God during universal dissolution) started blowing, aiding in spreading the fire in Lanka. Hanuman ji laughed and roared loudly, increasing his body size to such an extent that it seemed to touch the sky.
भावार्थ:
देह बड़ी विशाल, परंतु बहुत ही हल्की (फुर्तीली) है। वे दौड़कर एक महल से दूसरे महल पर चढ़ जाते हैं। नगर जल रहा है लोग बेहाल हो गए हैं। आग की करोड़ों भयंकर लपटें झपट रही हैं॥1॥
English Translation:
With his massive yet remarkably light and agile body, Hanuman ji ran and sprang from palace to palace. The city was completely ablaze, and all the people were in agony. Millions of blazing flames of fire were engulfing everything in their path.
भावार्थ:
हाय बप्पा! हाय मैया! इस अवसर पर हमें कौन बचाएगा? (चारों ओर) यही पुकार सुनाई पड़ रही है। हमने तो पहले ही कहा था कि यह वानर नहीं है, वानर का रूप धरे कोई देवता है!॥2॥
English Translation:
One could hear cries of “Ah, Father! O’ Mother! Who will save us from this situation? We had already said that this one is no ordinary monkey, but a Demigod disguised as a monkey…”
भावार्थ:
साधु के अपमान का यह फल है कि नगर, अनाथ के नगर की तरह जल रहा है। हनुमान्जी ने एक ही क्षण में सारा नगर जला डाला। एक विभीषण का घर नहीं जलाया॥3॥
English Translation:
…Such is the fruit of disobeying a saint, the city has burned down to ashes as if it is an orphan (without a guardian or protector).” In just a few minutes, the entire city of Lanka burned down, with the exception of Vibhishan’s home.
भावार्थ:
(शिवजी कहते हैं-) हे पार्वती! जिन्होंने अग्नि को बनाया, हनुमान्जी उन्हीं के दूत हैं। इसी कारण वे अग्नि से नहीं जले। हनुमान्जी ने उलट-पलटकर (एक ओर से दूसरी ओर तक) सारी लंका जला दी। फिर वे समुद्र में कूद पड़े॥
English Translation:
Lord Shiv tells Parvati ji, “O’ Girija, Hanuman is the messenger of Him who has created fire itself, and that is why he did not get burned. After ravaging Lanka from one end to another, Hanuman ji then jumped into the ocean (to douse the fire on his tail).
भावार्थ:
पूँछ बुझाकर, थकावट दूर करके और फिर छोटा सा रूप धारण कर हनुमान्जी श्री जानकीजी के सामने हाथ जोड़कर जा खड़े हुए॥26॥
English Translation:
After extinguishing the fire on his tail and relieving his fatigue, Hanuman ji assumed a miniature form once again. He then went and stood before Janak ji’s daughter, with his palms joined in reverence.
भावार्थ:
(हनुमान्जी ने कहा-) हे माता! मुझे कोई चिह्न (पहचान) दीजिए, जैसे श्री रघुनाथजी ने मुझे दिया था। तब सीताजी ने चूड़ामणि उतारकर दी। हनुमान्जी ने उसको हर्षपूर्वक ले लिया॥1॥
English Translation:
Hanuman ji said, “Mother, please give me a token like Raghupati had given me (for You).” Sita ji then removed Her hair brooch and handed it to Hanuman ji. The son of the Wind-God, Hanuman ji, accepted it with delight.
भावार्थ:
(जानकीजी ने कहा-) हे तात! मेरा प्रणाम निवेदन करना और इस प्रकार कहना- हे प्रभु! यद्यपि आप सब प्रकार से पूर्ण काम हैं (आपको किसी प्रकार की कामना नहीं है), तथापि दीनों (दुःखियों) पर दया करना आपका विरद है (और मैं दीन हूँ) अतः उस विरद को याद करके, हे नाथ! मेरे भारी संकट को दूर कीजिए॥2॥
English Translation:
Sita ji said, “Son, please convey my respects to Shri Ram and deliver this message to Him, O’ Lord, although You desire nothing, remember that one of Your names is Merciful on the suppliant. So, recalling this, please alleviate me from my immense distress.”
भावार्थ:
हे तात! इंद्रपुत्र जयंत की कथा (घटना) सुनाना और प्रभु को उनके बाण का प्रताप समझाना (स्मरण कराना)। यदि महीने भर में नाथ न आए तो फिर मुझे जीती न पाएँगे॥3॥
English Translation:
Sita ji continued, “O’ Son, narrate to the Lord the story of the Demigod Indra’s son Jayant, and how once the Lord’s arrow pursued Jayant across the three worlds, because Jayant had harmed me. Therefore, remind the Lord of the might of His arrow, for He always safeguards His devotees. If the Lord does not arrive here within one month, He will not find me alive…
भावार्थ:
हे हनुमान्! कहो, मैं किस प्रकार प्राण रखूँ! हे तात! तुम भी अब जाने को कह रहे हो। तुमको देखकर छाती ठंडी हुई थी। फिर मुझे वही दिन और वही रात!॥4॥
English Translation:
…Tell me, Hanuman, how can I preserve my life? O’ Son, you are saying that you will now go back. Your sight brought relief to my heavy heart, but now it seems the same cycle of day and night will continue for me.”
भावार्थ:
हनुमान्जी ने जानकीजी को समझाकर बहुत प्रकार से धीरज दिया और उनके चरणकमलों में सिर नवाकर श्री रामजी के पास गमन किया॥27॥
English Translation:
Hanuman ji reassured Janak ji’s daughter, Sita Ji, and comforted Her in numerous ways. Then, bowing at Her lotus feet, he proceeded to meet Shri Ram.
भावार्थ:
चलते समय उन्होंने महाध्वनि से भारी गर्जन किया, जिसे सुनकर राक्षसों की स्त्रियों के गर्भ गिरने लगे। समुद्र लाँघकर वे इस पार आए और उन्होंने वानरों को किलकिला शब्द (हर्षध्वनि) सुनाया॥1॥
English Translation:
As he was proceeding, Hanuman ji roared with such a thunderous sound that it caused the demonesses to miscarry. He leapt over the ocean, reached the other side, and greeted the monkeys by letting out a squeal of excitement.
भावार्थ:
हनुमान्जी को देखकर सब हर्षित हो गए और तब वानरों ने अपना नया जन्म समझा। हनुमान्जी का मुख प्रसन्न है और शरीर में तेज विराजमान है, (जिससे उन्होंने समझ लिया कि) ये श्री रामचंद्रजी का कार्य कर आए हैं॥2॥
English Translation:
Everyone rejoiced at the sight of Hanuman ji, and considered themselves to be born again. Hanuman ji’s face was brimming with happiness, and his body radiated with an aura. It was evident that he had accomplished Shri Ram’s task.
भावार्थ:
सब हनुमान्जी से मिले और बहुत ही सुखी हुए, जैसे तड़पती हुई मछली को जल मिल गया हो। सब हर्षित होकर नए-नए इतिहास (वृत्तांत) पूछते- कहते हुए श्री रघुनाथजी के पास चले॥3॥
English Translation:
They all felt delighted to meet Hanuman ji, just like a fish trembling from lack of water finally receives it. They then gladly proceeded to meet the Chief of Raghus. On the way, they asked Hanuman ji about all the events, and he recounted to them all the exploits from his Lanka adventure.
भावार्थ:
तब सब लोग मधुवन के भीतर आए और अंगद की सम्मति से सबने मधुर फल (या मधु और फल) खाए। जब रखवाले बरजने लगे, तब घूँसों की मार मारते ही सब रखवाले भाग छूटे॥4॥
English Translation:
On their way, they all entered the royal garden of Sugriv called Madhuvan. With Angad’s consent, they began to eat the luscious fruits. When the guards tried to stop them, they punched them and made them run away.
