• मामभिरक्षय रघुकुल नायक।
  धृत बर चाप रुचिर कर सायक॥
  मोह महा घन पटल प्रभंजन।
  संसय बिपिन अनल सुर रंजन॥1॥

भावार्थ:
हे रघुकुल के स्वामी! सुंदर हाथों में श्रेष्ठ धनुष और सुंदर बाण धारण किए हुए आप मेरी रक्षा कीजिए। आप महामोहरूपी मेघसमूह के (उड़ाने के) लिए प्रचंड पवन हैं, संशयरूपी वन के (भस्म करने के) लिए अग्नि हैं और देवताओं को आनंद देने वाले हैं॥1॥

English Translation:
Protect me graciously, O King of the Raghu dynasty, holding a charming bow and shining arrows in Your hands. You are the hurricane that disperses the thick clouds of delusion, the fire that burns the forest of doubts, and the source of delight for the Demigods…

• अगुन सगुन गुन मंदिर सुंदर।
  भ्रम तम प्रबल प्रताप दिवाकर॥
  काम क्रोध मद गज पंचानन।
  बसहु निरंतर जन मन कानन॥2॥

भावार्थ:
आप निर्गुण, सगुण, दिव्य गुणों के धाम और परम सुंदर हैं। भ्रमरूपी अंधकार के (नाश के) लिए प्रबल प्रतापी सूर्य हैं। काम, क्रोध और मदरूपी हाथियों के (वध के) लिए सिंह के समान आप इस सेवक के मनरूपी वन में निरंतर वास कीजिए॥2॥

English Translation:
You are devoid of material qualities and are a repository of divine attributes, an abode of virtues, and extremely charming. You are the powerful midday Sun that disperses the darkness of delusion. You are the lion who slays the elephants in the form of material desires, anger, and false pride. And You always reside in the forest of the hearts of Your devotees…

• बिषय मनोरथ पुंज कुंज बन।
  प्रबल तुषार उदार पार मन॥
  भव बारिधि मंदर परमं दर।
  बारय तारय संसृति दुस्तर॥3॥

भावार्थ:
विषयकामनाओं के समूह रूपी कमलवन के (नाश के) लिए आप प्रबल पाला हैं, आप उदार और मन से परे हैं। भवसागर (को मथने) के लिए आप मंदराचल पर्वत हैं। आप हमारे परम भय को दूर कीजिए और हमें दुस्तर संसार सागर से पार कीजिए॥3॥

English Translation:
You are the severe frost that destroys the forest of lotuses in the form of material desires. You are generous and beyond mental perception. To churn the ocean of mundane existence, You are the Mandrachal mountain. Remove my supreme fear and help me cross the formidable ocean of mundane existence…

• श्याम गात राजीव बिलोचन।
  दीन बंधु प्रनतारति मोचन॥
  अनुज जानकी सहित निरंतर।
  बसहु राम नृप मम उर अंतर॥
  मुनि रंजन महि मंडल मंडन।
  तुलसिदास प्रभु त्रास बिखंडन॥4-5॥

भावार्थ:
हे श्यामसुंदर-शरीर! हे कमलनयन! हे दीनबंधु! हे शरणागत को दु:ख से छुड़ाने वाले! हे राजा रामचंद्रजी! आप छोटे भाई लक्ष्मण और जानकीजी सहित निरंतर मेरे हृदय के अंदर निवास कीजिए। आप मुनियों को आनंद देने वाले, पृथ्वीमंडल के भूषण, तुलसीदास के प्रभु और भय का नाश करने वाले हैं॥4-5॥

English Translation:
You have a dark-hued complexion and lotus-like eyes. You are the friend of the poor and the remover of the sorrows of the suppliant. O King Ram, with Your younger brother (Shri Lakshman) and Sita ji, kindly always dwell in my heart. You give delight to the sages, You are the jewel of the Earth, the Lord of Tulsidas, and the destroyer of fear…

• नाथ जबहिं कोसलपुरीं हो‍इहि तिलक तुम्हार।
  कृपासिंधु मैं आउब देखन चरित उदार ॥115॥

भावार्थ:
हे नाथ! जब अयोध्यापुरी में आपका राजतिलक होगा, तब हे कृपासागर! मैं आपकी उदार लीला देखने आऊँगा ॥115॥

English Translation:
O Lord, when Your coronation takes place in the city of Ayodhya, I will come to witness Your benevolent deeds, O Ocean of mercy.

• करि बिनती जब संभु सिधाए।
  तब प्रभु निकट बिभीषनु आए॥
  नाइ चरन सिरु कह मृदु बानी।
  बिनय सुनहु प्रभु सारँगपानी॥1॥

भावार्थ:
जब शिवजी विनती करके चले गए, तब विभीषणजी प्रभु के पास आए और चरणों में सिर नवाकर कोमल वाणी से बोले- हे शार्गं धनुष के धारण करने वाले प्रभो! मेरी विनती सुनिए-॥1॥

• सकुल सदल प्रभु रावन मार्‌यो।
  पावन जस त्रिभुवन विस्तार्‌यो॥
  दीन मलीन हीन मति जाती।
  मो पर कृपा कीन्हि बहु भाँती॥2॥

भावार्थ:
आपने कुल और सेना सहित रावण का वध किया, त्रिभुवन में अपना पवित्र यश फैलाया और मुझ दीन, पापी, बुद्धिहीन और जातिहीन पर बहुत प्रकार से कृपा की॥2॥

English Translation:
Lord, You have slain Ravan along with his entire clan and army, spreading Your pious glory across the three spheres of the cosmos. Despite my pitiable, impure, dull-witted, and lowly nature, You have showered Your mercy upon me in every way…

• अब जन गृह पुनीत प्रभु कीजे।
  मज्जन करिअ समर श्रम छीजे॥
  देखि कोस मंदिर संपदा।
  देहु कृपाल कपिन्ह कहुँ मुदा॥3॥

भावार्थ:
अब हे प्रभु! इस दास के घर को पवित्र कीजिए और वहाँ चलकर स्नान कीजिए, जिससे युद्ध की थकावट दूर हो जाए। हे कृपालु! खजाना, महल और सम्पत्ति का निरीक्षण कर प्रसन्नतापूर्वक वानरों को दीजिए॥3॥

English Translation:
Now, my Lord, sanctify your servant’s abode with Your holy presence. Take a bath and relieve the fatigue of the battle. Then inspect the royal treasury, palace, and all the wealth, and gladly bestow whatever You please upon the monkeys, my gracious Lord…

• सब बिधि नाथ मोहि अपनाइअ।
  पुनि मोहि सहित अवधपुर जाइअ॥
  सुनत बचन मृदु दीनदयाला।
  सजल भए द्वौ नयन बिसाला॥4॥

भावार्थ:
हे नाथ! मुझे सब प्रकार से अपना लीजिए और फिर हे प्रभो! मुझे साथ लेकर अयोध्यापुरी को पधारिए। विभीषणजी के कोमल वचन सुनते ही दीनदयालु प्रभु के दोनों विशाल नेत्रों में (प्रेमाश्रुओं का) जल भर आया॥4॥

English Translation:
Please accept me as Your own in every way, O Lord. Then proceed to the city of Ayodhya, taking me with You.” Hearing the polite words of Vibhishan, the merciful Lord’s large eyes welled up with tears.

• तोर कोस गृह मोर सब सत्य बचन सुनु भ्रात।
  भरत दसा सुमिरत मोहि निमिष कल्प सम जात॥116 क॥

भावार्थ:
(श्री रामजी ने कहा-) हे भाई! सुनो, तुम्हारा खजाना और घर सब मेरा ही है, यह सच बात है। पर भरत की दशा याद करके मुझे एक-एक पल कल्प के समान बीत रहा है॥116 क॥

Shri Ram replied, “Listen, Brother, it is true that your palace and treasury belong to me, but when I think of my brother Bharat’s condition, each second feels like an era to me…

• तापस बेष गात कृस जपत निरंतर मोहि।
  देखौं बेगि सो जतनु करु सखा निहोरउँ तोहि॥116 ख॥

भावार्थ:
तपस्वी के वेष में कृश (दुबले) शरीर से निरंतर मेरा नाम जप कर रहे हैं। हे सखा! वही उपाय करो जिससे मैं जल्दी से जल्दी उन्हें देख सकूँ। मैं तुमसे निहोरा (अनुरोध) करता हूँ॥116 ख॥

English Translation:
Adopting the appearance of a hermit, he constantly chants my name with a frail body. Therefore, please arrange for me to see my brother at the earliest. My dear friend, I humbly beseech you…

• बीतें अवधि जाउँ जौं जिअत न पावउँ बीर।
  सुमिरत अनुज प्रीति प्रभु पुनि पुनि पुलक सरीर॥116 ग॥

भावार्थ:
यदि अवधि बीत जाने पर जाता हूँ तो भाई को जीता न पाऊँगा। छोटे भाई भरतजी की प्रीति का स्मरण करके प्रभु का शरीर बार-बार पुलकित हो रहा है॥166 ग॥

English Translation:
“If I reach Ayodhya after my exile ends, I fear I will not find my brother alive.” Recalling his younger brother’s love, Lord Ram’s body thrilled all over again and again.

• करेहु कल्प भरि राजु तुम्ह मोहि सुमिरेहु मन माहिं।
  पुनि मम धाम पाइहहु जहाँ संत सब जाहिं॥116 घ॥

भावार्थ:
(श्री रामजी ने फिर कहा-) हे विभीषण! तुम कल्पभर राज्य करना, मन में मेरा निरंतर स्मरण करते रहना। फिर तुम मेरे उस धाम को पा जाओगे, जहाँ सब संत जाते हैं॥116 घ॥

English Translation:
Shri Ram spoke again, “You shall rule the Kingdom of Lanka until the end of the era, inwardly meditating upon me all the time. After that, you will reach my abode, where all the saintly people ultimately go.”

• सुनत बिभीषन बचन राम के।
  हरषि गहे पद कृपाधाम के॥
  बानर भालु सकल हरषाने।
  गहि प्रभु पद गुन बिमल बखाने॥1॥

भावार्थ:
श्री रामचंद्रजी के वचन सुनते ही विभीषणजी ने हर्षित होकर कृपा के धाम श्री रामजी के चरण पकड़ लिए। सभी वानर-भालू हर्षित हो गए और प्रभु के चरण पकड़कर उनके निर्मल गुणों का बखान करने लगे॥1॥

English Translation:
Hearing Shri Ram’s words, Vibhishan was filled with joy and clasped Shri Ram’s feet, the abode of bliss. The monkeys and bears also rejoiced, holding Shri Ram’s feet and began to recount His pious virtues.

• बहुरि विभीषन भवन सिधायो।
  मनि गन बसन बिमान भरायो॥
  लै पुष्पक प्रभु आगें राखा।
  हँसि करि कृपासिंधु तब भाषा॥2॥

भावार्थ:
फिर विभीषणजी महल को गए और उन्होंने मणियों के समूहों (रत्नों) से और वस्त्रों से विमान को भर लिया। फिर उस पुष्पक विमान को लाकर प्रभु के सामने रखा। तब कृपासागर श्री रामजी ने हँसकर कहा-॥2॥

Then Vibhishan went to his palace and loaded his aerial vehicle (Pushpak viman) with many precious jewels and clothes. He then landed Pushpak in front of the Lord. Then the all-merciful Lord Ram smilingly said,…

• चढ़ि बिमान सुनु सखा बिभीषन।
  गगन जाइ बरषहु पट भूषन॥
  नभ पर जाइ बिभीषन तबही।
  बरषि दिए मनि अंबर सबही॥3॥

भावार्थ:
हे सखा विभीषण! सुनो, विमान पर चढ़कर, आकाश में जाकर वस्त्रों और गहनों को बरसा दो। तब (आज्ञा सुनते) ही विभीषणजी ने आकाश में जाकर सब मणियों और वस्त्रों को बरसा दिया॥3॥

English Translation:
Listen, my friend Vibhishan, mount your aeroplane, raise it into the sky, and rain down clothes and jewels.” Vibhishan quickly followed the Lord’s instructions and rained down all the jewels and clothes from the sky.

• जोइ जोइ मन भावइ सोइ लेहीं।
  मनि मुख मेलि डारि कपि देहीं॥
  हँसे रामु श्री अनुज समेता।
  परम कौतुकी कृपा निकेता॥4॥

भावार्थ:
जिसके मन को जो अच्छा लगता है, वह वही ले लेता है। मणियों को मुँह में लेकर वानर फिर उन्हें खाने की चीज न समझकर उगल देते हैं। यह तमाशा देखकर परम विनोदी और कृपा के धाम श्री रामजी, सीताजी और लक्ष्मणजी सहित हँसने लगे॥4॥

English Translation:
The monkeys and bears on the ground picked up whatever they fancied. Mistaking the precious stones and gems for edible items, they put them in their mouths but threw them away as soon as they realized their mistake. The abode of grace and exceedingly playful Lord Ram laughed at this sight, along with Sita ji and His younger brother Shri Lakshman.
