• जान्यो मनुज करि दनुज कानन दहन पावक हरि स्वयं।
  जेहि नमत सिव ब्रह्मादि सुर पिय भजेहु नहिं करुनामयं॥
  आजन्म ते परद्रोह रत पापौघमय तव तनु अयं।
  तुम्हहू दियो निज धाम राम नमामि ब्रह्म निरामयं॥

भावार्थ:
दैत्य रूपी वन को जलाने के लिए अग्निस्वरूप साक्षात्‌ श्री हरि को तुमने मनुष्य करके जाना। शिव और ब्रह्मा आदि देवता जिनको नमस्कार करते हैं, उन करुणामय भगवान्‌ को हे प्रियतम! तुमने नहीं भजा। तुम्हारा यह शरीर जन्म से ही दूसरों से द्रोह करने में तत्पर तथा पाप समूहमय रहा! इतने पर भी जिन निर्विकार ब्रह्म श्री रामजी ने तुमको अपना धाम दिया, उनको मैं नमस्कार करती हूँ।

English Translation:
You took Lord Hari Himself for a mere human, who is the fierce fire to burn the forest of the demon race. He, to whom Lord Shiv, Lord Brahma, and all other Demigods bow, O’ Beloved husband, you did not worship that mine of mercy, Shri Ram. From the very beginning, your body has been engrossed in harming others and committing sinful acts. Yet, the Almighty Supreme Lord, who is devoid of all material qualities, has granted you His personal abode. I bow to Him…

• अहह नाथ रघुनाथ सम कृपासिंधु नहिं आन।
  जोगि बृंद दुर्लभ गति तोहि दीन्हि भगवान॥104॥

भावार्थ:
अहह! नाथ! श्री रघुनाथजी के समान कृपा का समुद्र दूसरा कोई नहीं है, जिन भगवान्‌ ने तुमको वह गति दी, जो योगि समाज को भी दुर्लभ है॥104॥

English Translation:
Ah my lord, there is no one as merciful as Shri Raghunath, who bestowed upon you a state that even the realized sages find difficult to attain.”

• मंदोदरी बचन सुनि काना। सुर मुनि सिद्ध सबन्हि सुख माना॥
  अज महेस नारद सनकादी। जे मुनिबर परमारथबादी॥1॥

भावार्थ:
मंदोदरी के वचन कानों में सुनकर देवता, मुनि और सिद्ध सभी ने सुख माना। ब्रह्मा, महादेव, नारद और सनकादि तथा और भी जो परमार्थवादी (परमात्मा के तत्त्व को जानने और कहने वाले) श्रेष्ठ मुनि थे॥1॥

• भरि लोचन रघुपतिहि निहारी। प्रेम मगन सब भए सुखारी॥
  रुदन करत देखीं सब नारी। गयउ बिभीषनु मनु दुख भारी॥2॥

भावार्थ:
वे सभी श्री रघुनाथजी को नेत्र भरकर निरखकर प्रेममग्न हो गए और अत्यंत सुखी हुए। अपने घर की सब स्त्रियों को रोती हुई देखकर विभीषणजी के मन में बड़ा भारी दुःख हुआ और वे उनके पास गए॥2॥

• बंधु दसा बिलोकि दुख कीन्हा। तब प्रभु अनुजहि आयसु दीन्हा॥
  लछिमन तेहि बहु बिधि समुझायो। बहुरि बिभीषन प्रभु पहिं आयो॥3॥

भावार्थ:
उन्होंने भाई की दशा देखकर दुःख किया। तब प्रभु श्री रामजी ने छोटे भाई को आज्ञा दी (कि जाकर विभीषण को धैर्य बँधाओ)। लक्ष्मणजी ने उन्हें बहुत प्रकार से समझाया। तब विभीषण प्रभु के पास लौट आए॥3॥

English Translation:
Seeing his brother’s condition, Vibhishan grieved. Then the Lord gave an order to His younger brother Lakshman ji, who consoled and comforted Vibhishan in many ways. After that, Vibhishan returned to the Lord.

• कृपादृष्टि प्रभु ताहि बिलोका। करहु क्रिया परिहरि सब सोका॥
  कीन्हि क्रिया प्रभु आयसु मानी। बिधिवत देस काल जियँ जानी॥4॥

भावार्थ:
प्रभु ने उनको कृपापूर्ण दृष्टि से देखा (और कहा-) सब शोक त्यागकर रावण की अंत्येष्टि क्रिया करो। प्रभु की आज्ञा मानकर और हृदय में देश और काल का विचार करके विभीषणजी ने विधिपूर्वक सब क्रिया की॥4॥

English Translation:
The Lord bestowed His gracious look on Vibhishan and said, “Now perform all the last rites of Ravan and renounce all sorrow.” Vibhishan obediently followed Shri Ram’s instructions and performed the last rites diligently, according to the rules, time, and place.

• मंदोदरी आदि सब देह तिलांजलि ताहि।
  भवन गईं रघुपति गुन गन बरनत मन माहि॥105॥

भावार्थ:
मंदोदरी आदि सब स्त्रियाँ उसे (रावण को) तिलांजलि देकर मन में श्री रघुनाथजी के गुण समूहों का वर्णन करती हुई महल को गईं॥105॥

English Translation:
After offering handfuls of water and sesame seeds for the peace of the deceased’s soul, Mandodari and all the other queens returned to their palace, recounting the many virtues of Shri Raghupati in their hearts.

• आइ बिभीषन पुनि सिरु नायो। कृपासिंधु तब अनुज बोलायो॥
  तुम्ह कपीस अंगद नल नीला। जामवंत मारुति नयसीला॥1॥

• सब मिलि जाहु बिभीषन साथा। सारेहु तिलक कहेउ रघुनाथा॥
  पिता बचन मैं नगर न आवउँ। आपु सरिस कपि अनुज पठावउँ॥2॥

भावार्थ:
सब क्रिया-कर्म करने के बाद विभीषण ने आकर पुनः सिर नवाया। तब कृपा के समुद्र श्री रामजी ने छोटे भाई लक्ष्मणजी को बुलाया। श्री रघुनाथजी ने कहा कि तुम, वानरराज सुग्रीव, अंगद, नल, नील जाम्बवान्‌ और मारुति सब नीतिनिपुण लोग मिलकर विभीषण के साथ जाओ और उन्हें राजतिलक कर दो। पिताजी के वचनों के कारण मैं नगर में नहीं आ सकता। पर अपने ही समान वानर और छोटे भाई को भेजता हूँ॥1-2॥

English Translation:
Vibhishan then returned to Shri Ram and bowed his head once more. The ocean of mercy, Lord Ram, called upon his younger brother, Shri Lakshman. Shri Raghunath said, “You, along with the King of monkeys (Sugriv), Nal, Neel, Jambvant, and the son of the Wind God (Hanuman ji), are all extremely wise and proficient in policy and principles. All of you go together with Vibhishan and perform his coronation ceremony. As per my father’s orders, I am forbidden to enter any city during my fourteen years of exile. Therefore, I am sending the monkeys and my younger brother, who are all as capable as I am.”

• तुरत चले कपि सुनि प्रभु बचना। कीन्ही जाइ तिलक की रचना॥
  सादर सिंहासन बैठारी। तिलक सारि अस्तुति अनुसारी॥3॥

भावार्थ:
प्रभु के वचन सुनकर वानर तुरंत चले और उन्होंने जाकर राजतिलक की सारी व्यवस्था की। आदर के साथ विभीषण को सिंहासन पर बैठाकर राजतिलक किया और स्तुति की॥3॥

English Translation:
Hearing the Lord’s command, the monkeys immediately proceeded to Lanka and made all the preparations for the coronation. With due reverence, they seated Vibhishan on the royal throne and, applying a sacred mark on his forehead as a token of sovereignty, they glorified him according to the procedures.

• जोरि पानि सबहीं सिर नाए। सहित बिभीषन प्रभु पहिं आए॥
  तब रघुबीर बोलि कपि लीन्हे। कहि प्रिय बचन सुखी सब कीन्हे॥4॥

भावार्थ:
सभी ने हाथ जोड़कर उनको सिर नवाए। तदनन्तर विभीषणजी सहित सब प्रभु के पास आए। तब श्री रघुवीर ने वानरों को बुला लिया और प्रिय वचन कहकर सबको सुखी किया॥4॥

English Translation:
Everyone joined their palms and bowed their heads to him. Then, along with Vibhishan, they returned to the Lord. Shri Raghuveer then called all the monkeys and, uttering pleasing words, gratified everyone.

• किए सुखी कहि बानी सुधा सम बल तुम्हारें रिपु हयो।
  पायो बिभीषन राज तिहुँ पुर जसु तुम्हारो नित नयो॥
  मोहि सहित सुभ कीरति तुम्हारी परम प्रीति जो गाइहैं।
  संसार सिंधु अपार पार प्रयास बिनु नर पाइहैं॥

भावार्थ:
भगवान्‌ ने अमृत के समान यह वाणी कहकर सबको सुखी किया कि तुम्हारे ही बल से यह प्रबल शत्रु मारा गया और विभीषण ने राज्य पाया। इसके कारण तुम्हारा यश तीनों लोकों में नित्य नया बना रहेगा। जो लोग मेरे सहित तुम्हारी शुभ कीर्ति को परम प्रेम के साथ गाएँगे, वे बिना ही परिश्रम इस अपार संसार का पार पा जाएँगे।

English Translation:
The Lord gratified everyone with His nectar-like words, “It is by your might that such a formidable enemy was killed and Vibhishan received the Kingdom of Lanka. Your glory will remain ever fresh in all the three spheres of the cosmos. Men who sing your blessed glory along with mine shall easily cross the fathomless ocean of mundane existence.”

• प्रभु के बचन श्रवन सुनि नहिं अघाहिं कपि पुंज।
  बार बार सिर नावहिं गहहिं सकल पद कंज॥106॥

भावार्थ:
प्रभु के वचन कानों से सुनकर वानर समूह तृप्त नहीं होते। वे सब बार-बार सिर नवाते हैं और चरणकमलों को पकड़ते हैं॥106॥

English Translation:
The groups of monkeys never felt satiated listening to the Lord’s words. They continuously bowed their heads and clasped His lotus feet again and again.
