संभु दीन्ह उपदेस हित नहिं नारदहि सोहान।
भरद्वाज कौतुक सुनहु हरि इच्छा बलवान॥127॥

भावार्थ:
शिवजी ने नारदजी के हित के लिए उपदेश दिया, पर वह उन्हें अच्छा नहीं लगा। हे भरद्वाज! अब भगवान हरि की इच्छा से होने वाला अद्भुत कौतुक (लीला) सुनो।

English Translation:
Though Lord Shambhu gave advice for Narad's benefit, it did not please him. O Bharadwaj, now listen to this divine play—such is the supreme power of Lord Hari’s will.

राम कीन्ह चाहहिं सोइ होई। करै अन्यथा अस नहिं कोई॥
संभु बचन मुनि मन नहिं भाए। तब बिरंचि के लोक सिधाए॥1॥

भावार्थ:
श्री राम जो चाहते हैं, वही होता है; कोई भी उनके इच्छित कार्य को रोक नहीं सकता। शिवजी के वचन नारदजी को नहीं भाए, इसलिए वे ब्रह्मलोक को चल दिए।

English Translation:
Whatever Shri Ram desires alone comes to pass; no one can act against His will. Displeased with Lord Shambhu’s words, Sage Narad departed for Brahma’s abode.

एक बार करतल बर बीना। गावत हरि गुन गान प्रबीना॥
छीरसिंधु गवने मुनिनाथा। जहँ बस श्रीनिवास श्रुतिमाथा॥2॥

भावार्थ:
वीणा वादन और हरिगुण गान में निपुण मुनिनाथ नारदजी एक बार हाथ में सुंदर वीणा लिए क्षीरसागर को गए, जहाँ वेदों के सिरस्वरूप श्री हरि निवास करते हैं।

English Translation:
Once, the sage Narad, skilled in singing divine glories, traveled to the Ocean of Milk while playing his veena. There dwells Lord Narayan, the supreme being revered as the essence of the Vedas.

हरषि मिले उठि रमानिकेता। बैठे आसन रिषिहि समेता॥
बोले बिहसि चराचर राया। बहुते दिनन कीन्हि मुनि दाया॥3॥

भावार्थ:
रमानिवास भगवान बड़े आनंद से उठकर नारदजी से मिले और उन्हें आसन पर बैठाया। हँसकर बोले—हे मुनि! आपने बहुत दिन बाद कृपा की।

English Translation:
Lord Narayan, abode of Lakshmi, joyfully welcomed Narad and seated him beside Him. Laughing, the Lord of all creation said, “O sage, you’ve blessed me with your presence after such a long time.”

काम चरित नारद सब भाषे। जद्यपि प्रथम बरजि सिवँ राखे॥
अति प्रचंड रघुपति कै माया। जेहि न मोह अस को जग जाया॥4॥

भावार्थ:
शिवजी के मना करने पर भी नारदजी ने कामदेव की कथा भगवान को सुनाई। रघुनाथजी की माया अत्यंत प्रबल है, जिससे कौन बचा है!

English Translation:
Despite Lord Shiva’s warning, Narad told the tale of Kaamdev. Such is the overwhelming might of Raghupati’s Maya—who in this world can escape its enchantment?

रूख बदन करि बचन मृदु बोले श्रीभगवान।
तुम्हरे सुमिरन तें मिटहिं मोह मार मद मान॥128॥

भावार्थ:
भगवान रूखे मुख से कोमल वचन बोले—हे मुनि! आपके स्मरण से ही मोह, काम, मद और मान मिट जाते हैं।

English Translation:
With a stern face but gentle words, the Lord said, “O Narad, even remembering you destroys delusion, desire, arrogance, and pride.”

सुनु मुनि मोह होइ मन ताकें। ग्यान बिराग हृदय नहिं जाकें॥
ब्रह्मचरज ब्रत रत मतिधीरा। तुम्हहि कि करइ मनोभव पीरा॥1॥

भावार्थ:
हे मुनि! मोह उसी को होता है, जिसके हृदय में ज्ञान और वैराग्य न हो। आप तो ब्रह्मचर्यव्रत में तत्पर और धीर बुद्धिवाले हैं। कामदेव आपको कैसे सताएगा?

English Translation:
Listen, O Sage! Only those devoid of wisdom and renunciation fall prey to delusion. You, steadfast in celibacy and wisdom, are beyond Kaamdev’s reach.

नारद कहेउ सहित अभिमाना। कृपा तुम्हारि सकल भगवाना॥
करुनानिधि मन दीख बिचारी। उर अंकुरेउ गरब तरु भारी॥2॥

भावार्थ:
नारदजी ने अभिमान से कहा—भगवन! यह सब आपकी कृपा है। परंतु भगवान ने मन में देखा कि इनके हृदय में अभिमान का अंकुर उत्पन्न हो गया है।

English Translation:
Narad, with pride, said, “O Lord, all this is Your grace.” The compassionate Lord discerned that a seed of arrogance had begun to sprout in Narad’s heart.

बेगि सो मैं डारिहउँ उखारी। पन हमार सेवक हितकारी॥
मुनि कर हित मम कौतुक होई। अवसि उपाय करबि मैं सोई॥3॥

भावार्थ:
मैं इसे शीघ्र ही उखाड़ फेंकूँगा, क्योंकि सेवक का हित करना मेरा व्रत है। मुनि के हित हेतु मेरी एक लीला होगी और मैं उसका उपाय अवश्य करूँगा।

English Translation:
I will quickly uproot it, for the welfare of My devotee is My vow. A divine play shall now unfold for the sage’s good, and I will see to it Myself.

तब नारद हरि पद सिर नाई। चले हृदयँ अहमिति अधिकाई॥
श्रीपति निज माया तब प्रेरी। सुनहु कठिन करनी तेहि केरी॥4॥

भावार्थ:
नारदजी भगवान के चरणों में सिर नवाकर चल दिए, परंतु उनके हृदय में अभिमान और बढ़ गया। तब श्रीपति भगवान ने अपनी माया को प्रेरित किया। उसकी कठिन लीला को सुनो।

English Translation:
Narad bowed at the Lord’s feet and departed, but his pride swelled further. Then the Lord of Lakshmi summoned His divine Maya—now listen to the difficult task it undertook.

बिरचेउ मग महुँ नगर तेहिं सत जोजन बिस्तार।
श्रीनिवासपुर तें अधिक रचना बिबिध प्रकार॥129॥

भावार्थ:
हरिमाया ने मार्ग में सौ योजन (लगभग 1200 वर्ग किलोमीटर) में फैला एक नगर रचा, जो श्रीहरि के वैकुण्ठ नगर से भी अधिक सुंदर था।

English Translation:
Hari’s Maya manifested a magnificent city, stretching over a hundred yojanas, with a beauty and splendor surpassing even that of Vaikuntha.

बसहिं नगर सुंदर नर नारी। जनु बहु मनसिज रति तनुधारी॥
तेहिं पुर बसइ सीलनिधि राजा। अगनित हय गय सेन समाजा॥1॥

भावार्थ:
नगर में ऐसे सुंदर नर-नारी बसते थे जैसे अनेक कामदेव और रति मानो मनुष्य शरीर में हों। उस नगर में शीलनिधि नामक राजा रहता था, जिसकी विशाल सेना थी।

English Translation:
The city was home to exquisite men and women, appearing like multiple incarnations of Kaamdev and Rati. The virtuous king Sheelnidhi ruled the city, blessed with vast armies of horses and elephants.

सत सुरेस सम बिभव बिलासा। रूप तेज बल नीति निवासा॥
बिस्वमोहनी तासु कुमारी। श्री बिमोह जिसु रूपु निहारी॥2॥

भावार्थ:
राजा का वैभव सौ इन्द्रों के समान था। वह रूप, तेज, बल और नीति का निवास था। उसकी कन्या विश्वमोहिनी इतनी सुंदर थी कि उसे देखकर लक्ष्मीजी भी मोहित हो जाएँ।

English Translation:
His wealth rivaled that of a hundred Indras. He was the embodiment of beauty, strength, valor, and righteousness. His daughter, Vishwamohini, was so enchanting that even Lakshmi would be captivated.

सोइ हरिमाया सब गुन खानी। सोभा तासु कि जाइ बखानी॥
करइ स्वयंबर सो नृपबाला। आए तहँ अगनित महिपाला॥3॥

भावार्थ:
वह कन्या भगवान की माया ही थी, जो सब गुणों की खान थी। उसकी शोभा का वर्णन नहीं किया जा सकता। वह स्वयंवर करने जा रही थी, जिससे अनेक राजा वहाँ एकत्र हुए थे।

English Translation:
She was none other than Lord Hari’s Maya, the abode of all virtues. Her beauty defied description. She prepared to hold a swayamvar, drawing countless kings from far and wide.

मुनि कौतुकी नगर तेहि गयऊ। पुरबासिन्ह सब पूछत भयऊ॥
सुनि सब चरित भूपगृहँ आए। करि पूजा नृप मुनि बैठाए॥4॥

भावार्थ:
खिलवाड़ी मुनि नारदजी उस नगर में पहुँचे और नगरवासियों से हाल पूछा। सब हाल सुनकर वे राजा के महल पहुँचे। राजा ने पूजन कर उन्हें आसन दिया।

English Translation:
The playful sage Narad entered the city and inquired about its marvels. Upon hearing the details, he arrived at the royal palace, where King Sheelnidhi welcomed him with worship and offered him a seat of honor.
