एक कलप एहि हेतु प्रभु लीन्ह मनुज अवतार।
सुर रंजन सज्जन सुखद हरि भंजन भुमि भार॥139॥

भावार्थ:
देवताओं को प्रसन्न करने वाले, सज्जनों को सुख देने वाले और पृथ्वी का भार हरने वाले भगवान ने एक कल्प में इसी कारण मनुष्य रूप में अवतार लिया था।

English Translation:
Due to this reason (Narad Ji’s curse), in one kalpa (cosmic cycle), the Lord incarnated as a human. Lord Hari brings joy to the gods, happiness to the righteous, and removes the burden of the Earth.

एहि बिधि जनम करम हरि केरे। सुंदर सुखद बिचित्र घनेरे॥
कलप कलप प्रति प्रभु अवतरहीं। चारु चरित नानाबिधि करहीं॥1॥

भावार्थ:
इस प्रकार भगवान के जन्म और कर्म सुंदर, सुखदायक और अलौकिक होते हैं। वे प्रत्येक कल्प में अवतार लेते हैं और अनेक प्रकार की सुंदर लीलाएँ करते हैं।

English Translation:
In this way, Lord Hari has enchanting, blissful, and divine incarnations. In every kalpa, He descends and performs many beautiful and wondrous deeds.

तब-तब कथा मुनीसन्ह गाई। परम पुनीत प्रबंध बनाई॥
बिबिध प्रसंग अनूप बखाने। करहिं न सुनि आचरजु सयाने॥2॥

भावार्थ:
हर कल्प में मुनियों ने परम पवित्र काव्य रचकर भगवान की कथाएँ गाईं और अनेक अनुपम प्रसंगों का वर्णन किया। उन्हें सुनकर विवेकी लोग आश्चर्य नहीं करते।

English Translation:
Each time, sages compose sacred poetry narrating His stories, describing divine incidents. The wise are not surprised, for they understand the Lord’s divine play.

हरि अनंत हरि कथा अनंता। कहहिं सुनहिं बहुबिधि सब संता॥
रामचंद्र के चरित सुहाए। कलप कोटि लगि जाहिं न गाए॥3॥

भावार्थ:
श्री हरि अनंत हैं, उनकी कथा भी अनंत है। संत उसे अनेकों रूपों में कहते-सुनते हैं। श्री राम के सुंदर चरित्र करोड़ों कल्पों में भी पूरी तरह गाए नहीं जा सकते।

English Translation:
Lord Hari is infinite, and so are His divine tales. Saints speak and hear them in many forms, yet even millions of kalpas wouldn’t suffice to fully sing the glories of Lord Ram.

यह प्रसंग मैं कहा भवानी। हरिमायाँ मोहहिं मुनि ग्यानी॥
प्रभु कौतुकी प्रनत हितकारी। सेवत सुलभ सकल दुखहारी॥4॥

भावार्थ:
(शिवजी कहते हैं) हे पार्वती! मैंने यह प्रसंग इसलिए कहा क्योंकि ज्ञानी मुनि भी भगवान की माया से मोहित हो जाते हैं। प्रभु लीलामय हैं, शरणागत के हितकारी और सब दुःखों को हरने वाले हैं।

English Translation:
(Lord Shiv speaks) O Bhawani! I narrated this tale to show how even the wisest sages are deluded by Lord Hari’s Maya. The Lord is playful, benevolent to the surrendered, easy to serve, and destroyer of all sorrow.

सुर नर मुनि कोउ नाहिं जेहि न मोह माया प्रबल।
अस बिचारि मन माहिं भजिअ महामाया पतिहि॥140॥

भावार्थ:
देवता, मनुष्य, और मुनियों में ऐसा कोई नहीं है, जिसे भगवान की प्रबल माया मोहित न कर दे। इसलिए मन में यह विचारकर उस महामाया के स्वामी का भजन करना चाहिए।

English Translation:
No god, human, or sage escapes the powerful illusion of the Lord. Knowing this, one should worship the Supreme Master of Maya with a devoted heart.

अपर हेतु सुनु सैलकुमारी। कहउँ बिचित्र कथा बिस्तारी॥
जेहि कारन अज अगुन अरूपा। ब्रह्म भयउ कोसलपुर भूपा॥1॥

भावार्थ:
हे गिरिराजकुमारी! अब भगवान के अवतार का वह दूसरा कारण सुनो—मैं उसकी विचित्र कथा विस्तार से कहता हूँ। जिस कारण से जन्मरहित, निर्गुण और निराकार ब्रह्म अयोध्यापुरी के राजा बने।

English Translation:
O Daughter of the Mountain King! Listen now to the second reason behind the divine incarnation—I shall describe this wondrous tale in detail: how the unborn, formless, and attribute-less Brahm came to be born as the King of Ayodhya.

जो प्रभु बिपिन फिरत तुम्ह देखा। बंधु समेत धरें मुनिबेषा॥
जासु चरित अवलोकि भवानी। सती सरीर रहिहु बौरानी॥2॥

भावार्थ:
हे भवानी! जिन प्रभु श्रीराम को तुमने लक्ष्मणजी के साथ मुनियों का वेष धारण किए वन में विचरण करते देखा था, और जिनके चरित्र देखकर सतीजी के शरीर में तुम ऐसी बावली हो गई थीं—

English Translation:
O Bhavani! The very Lord whom you once saw wandering in the forest with His brother, dressed as a sage—His divine deeds so mystified you in your previous birth as Sati, that you became utterly bewildered.

अजहुँ न छाया मिटति तुम्हारी। तासु चरित सुनु भ्रम रुज हारी॥
लीला कीन्हि जो तेहिं अवतारा। सो सब कहिहउँ मति अनुसारा॥3॥

भावार्थ:
उस भ्रम की छाया अब तक भी तुम्हारे ऊपर से नहीं मिटी है। अब उस भगवान की लीलाएं सुनो, जो भ्रम रूपी रोग का नाश करती हैं। उस अवतार में भगवान ने जो-जो लीला की, उसे मैं अपनी बुद्धि के अनुसार बताऊँगा।

English Translation:
Even now, the shadow of that delusion has not left you. So listen now to the divine pastimes of that Lord, which cure the affliction of illusion. I shall describe all that He did in that incarnation, as per my understanding.

भरद्वाज सुनि संकर बानी। सकुचि सप्रेम उमा मुसुकानी॥
लगे बहुरि बरनै बृषकेतू। सो अवतार भयउ जेहि हेतू॥4॥

भावार्थ:
(याज्ञवल्क्यजी बोले—) हे भरद्वाज! जब भगवान शंकर के वचन सुने, तब उमा (पार्वतीजी) सकुचाकर प्रेमपूर्वक मुस्कुरा उठीं। फिर वृषकेतु शिवजी उस कारण का वर्णन करने लगे, जिससे वह अवतार हुआ।

English Translation:
(Yagyavalkya said:) O Bhardwaj! Upon hearing Lord Shankar's words, Uma felt bashful and smiled affectionately. Then Lord Shiv, bearer of the bull-banner, began describing the reason behind that divine incarnation.

सो मैं तुम्ह सन कहउँ सबु सुनु मुनीस मन लाइ।
रामकथा कलि मल हरनि मंगल करनि सुहाइ॥141॥

भावार्थ:
हे मुनीश्वर भरद्वाज! मैं वह सब तुमसे कहता हूँ, ध्यान लगाकर सुनो। श्रीराम की कथा कलियुग के पापों को हरने वाली, मंगल करने वाली और बड़ी ही सुंदर है।

English Translation:
O Sage Bhardwaj! I shall now tell you all of it—listen with full attention. The story of Shri Ram removes the sins of Kaliyug, brings great auspiciousness, and is exceedingly beautiful.

स्वायंभू मनु अरु सतरूपा। जिन्ह तें भै नरसृष्टि अनूपा॥
दंपति धरम आचरन नीका। अजहुँ गाव श्रुति जिन्ह कै लीका॥1॥

भावार्थ:
स्वायम्भुव मनु और उनकी पत्नी शतरूपा—जिनसे यह अनुपम मानव सृष्टि उत्पन्न हुई—उन दोनों का धर्म और आचरण बहुत ही उत्तम था। आज भी वेद उनकी मर्यादा का गुणगान करते हैं।

English Translation:
Swayambhu Manu and his wife Shatrupa, from whom the matchless human race began—their adherence to dharma and conduct was of the highest order. Even today, the Vedas sing of their noble legacy.

नृप उत्तानपाद सुत तासू। ध्रुव हरिभगत भयउ सुत जासू॥
लघु सुत नाम प्रियब्रत ताही। बेद पुरान प्रसंसहिं जाही॥2॥

भावार्थ:
उनके पुत्र राजा उत्तानपाद थे, जिनके पुत्र ध्रुवजी भगवान के परम भक्त हुए। मनु के छोटे पुत्र का नाम प्रियव्रत था, जिनकी वेद और पुराणों में प्रशंसा की गई है।

English Translation:
Their son was King Uttanpad, whose son Dhruv became a great devotee of Lord Hari. Manu’s younger son was named Priyavrat, whose virtues are glorified in the Vedas and Puranas.

देवहूति पुनि तासु कुमारी। जो मुनि कर्दम कै प्रिय नारी॥
आदि देव प्रभु दीनदयाला। जठर धरेउ जेहिं कपिल कृपाला॥3॥

भावार्थ:
उनकी कन्या देवहूति थीं, जो कर्दम मुनि की प्रिय पत्नी बनीं। देवहूति ने गर्भ में दीनों पर दया करने वाले, आदि देव और कृपालु भगवान कपिल को धारण किया।

English Translation:
Their daughter was Devhuti, the beloved wife of Sage Kardam. She conceived in her womb the compassionate and primal deity—Lord Kapil, who is merciful to the meek and devoted to righteousness.

सांख्य सास्त्र जिन्ह प्रगट बखाना।
तत्व बिचार निपुन भगवाना॥
तेहिं मनु राज कीन्ह बहु काला।
प्रभु आयसु सब बिधि प्रतिपाला॥4॥

भावार्थ:
जो भगवान तत्वज्ञान में निपुण थे और जिन्होंने सांख्य शास्त्र को प्रकट रूप में वर्णन किया—उन कपिल भगवान के पिता स्वायम्भुव मनु ने बहुत समय तक राज्य किया और सभी प्रकार से प्रभु की आज्ञाओं का पालन किया।

English Translation:
The Lord, master of spiritual truths, revealed the Sankhya philosophy in full clarity. His father, King Manu, ruled for many years and followed the Lord's commands in every aspect of life.

होइ न बिषय बिराग भवन बसत भा चौथपन।
हृदयँ बहुत दुख लाग जनम गयउ हरिभगति बिनु॥142॥

भावार्थ:
भोग-विलास में जीवन व्यतीत करते हुए जब बुढ़ापा आ गया और तब भी विषयों से वैराग्य नहीं हुआ, तो उन्हें बड़ा दुःख हुआ कि श्रीहरि की भक्ति के बिना ही यह जन्म व्यर्थ चला गया।

English Translation:
Even in old age, detachment from worldly pleasures had not arisen while still dwelling in luxury. This caused great sorrow—that life had passed without devotion to Lord Hari.

बरबस राज सुतहि तब दीन्हा।
नारि समेत गवन बन कीन्हा॥
तीरथ बर नैमिष बिख्याता।
अति पुनीत साधक सिधि दाता॥1॥

भावार्थ:
राजा मनु ने अपने पुत्र को जबरन राज्य सौंप दिया और स्वयं पत्नी सतरूपा के साथ वन गमन किया। वे तीर्थों में श्रेष्ठ, अत्यन्त पवित्र और साधकों को सिद्धि देने वाले नैमिषारण्य पहुँचे।

English Translation:
King Manu handed over the kingdom to his son and, along with Queen Shatrupa, departed to the forest. They reached the sacred Naimisharanya, renowned for its purity and spiritual blessings.

बसहिं तहाँ मुनि सिद्ध समाजा।
तहँ हियँ हरषि चलेउ मनु राजा॥
पंथ जात सोहहिं मतिधीरा।
ग्यान भगति जनु धरें सरीरा॥2॥

भावार्थ:
नैमिषारण्य में सिद्ध और मुनियों का निवास था। वहाँ मनु राजा हर्षपूर्वक पहुँचे। राजा और रानी उस मार्ग में ऐसे सुशोभित हो रहे थे मानो ज्ञान और भक्ति ने ही शरीर धारण कर लिया हो।

English Translation:
Naimisharanya was the dwelling of sages and perfected souls. King Manu joyfully proceeded there. As they walked the path, they looked like the embodiment of knowledge and devotion.

पहुँचे जाइ धेनुमति तीरा।
हरषि नहाने निरमल नीरा॥
आए मिलन सिद्ध मुनि ग्यानी।
धरम धुरंधर नृपरिषि जानी॥3॥

भावार्थ:
वे धेनुमती (गोमती) नदी के तट पर पहुँचे और निर्मल जल में हर्षपूर्वक स्नान किया। धर्म में निपुण राजर्षि जानकर सिद्ध और ज्ञानी मुनि उनसे मिलने आए।

English Translation:
They reached the banks of the Gomati River and joyfully bathed in its pure waters. Knowing them as dharmic royal sages, enlightened ascetics and seers came to meet them.

जहँ जहँ तीरथ रहे सुहाए।
मुनिन्ह सकल सादर करवाए॥
कृस सरीर मुनिपट परिधाना।
सत समाज नित सुनहिं पुराना॥4॥

भावार्थ:
जहाँ-जहाँ सुन्दर तीर्थस्थान थे, वहाँ-वहाँ मुनियों ने आदरपूर्वक उन्हें घुमाया। अब उनका शरीर कृश हो गया था और वे मुनियों जैसे वल्कल वस्त्र पहनते थे। वे संत समाज में बैठकर नित्य पुराण श्रवण करते थे।

English Translation:
The sages respectfully led them through all the sacred pilgrimage places. Their bodies grew thin and weak, clad in ascetic garments. They spent their days listening to the Puranas in the company of saints.

द्वादस अच्छर मंत्र पुनि जपहिं सहित अनुराग।
बासुदेव पद पंकरुह दंपति मन अति लाग॥143॥

भावार्थ:
वे प्रेम सहित "ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय"—इस द्वादशाक्षर मंत्र का जप करते थे। राजा और रानी का मन श्री वासुदेव के चरण कमलों में अत्यन्त अनुरक्त हो गया।

English Translation:
With loving devotion, they chanted the twelve-letter mantra—"Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya." Their minds became deeply attached to the lotus feet of Lord Vasudev.

करहिं अहार साक फल कंदा।
सुमिरहिं ब्रह्म सच्चिदानंदा॥
पुनि हरि हेतु करन तप लागे।
बारि अधार मूल फल त्यागे॥1॥

भावार्थ:
वे साग, फल और कंद का आहार करते हुए सच्चिदानंद ब्रह्म का स्मरण करते थे। फिर उन्होंने श्रीहरि के हेतु तप करना आरंभ किया और जल के अतिरिक्त मूल-फल आदि भी त्याग दिए।

English Translation:
They subsisted on herbs, fruits, and roots while meditating on the blissful, eternal Brahman. Later, for the sake of Lord Hari, they undertook deeper austerities, giving up even fruits and roots and living solely on water.

उर अभिलाष निरंतर होई।
देखिअ नयन परम प्रभु सोई॥
अगुन अखंड अनंत अनादी।
जेहि चिंतहिं परमारथबादी॥2॥

भावार्थ:
अब उनके हृदय में निरंतर यही इच्छा बनी रहती कि हम उस परम प्रभु को अपनी आँखों से देखें—जो निर्गुण, अखंड, अनंत और अनादि हैं, और जिनका चिन्तन परमार्थवादी लोग करते हैं।

English Translation:
Their hearts burned with constant desire—“May we behold the Supreme Lord with our eyes.” The One who is formless, indivisible, infinite, and eternal—the very Lord contemplated by those who seek the highest spiritual truth.

नेति नेति जेहि बेद निरूपा। निजानंद निरुपाधि अनूपा॥
संभु बिरंचि बिष्नु भगवाना। उपजहिं जासु अंस तें नाना॥3॥
भावार्थ:
जिन्हें वेद ‘नेति-नेति’ कहकर भी पूरी तरह वर्णन नहीं कर पाते, जो आनंदस्वरूप, उपाधिरहित और अनुपम हैं, जिनके अंश मात्र से अनेकों शिव, ब्रह्मा और विष्णु उत्पन्न होते हैं।
English Translation:
…Whom the Vedas describe only as "not this, not that" — beyond all definition — the One who is bliss itself, free of attributes and beyond comparison. From just a fraction of Him, countless forms of Shiva, Brahma, and Vishnu arise.

ऐसेउ प्रभु सेवक बस अहई। भगत हेतु लीलातनु गहई॥
जौं यह बचन सत्य श्रुति भाषा। तौ हमार पूजिहि अभिलाषा॥4॥
भावार्थ:
ऐसे महान प्रभु भी भक्तों के लिए लीला-विग्रह धारण कर सेवकों के अधीन हो जाते हैं। यदि वेदों की यह बात सत्य है, तो हमारी अभिलाषा भी अवश्य पूरी होगी।
English Translation:
…Such a great Lord, despite being beyond all, comes under the sway of His devotees, taking form for their sake. If the words of the Vedas are indeed true, then surely our wish shall be fulfilled.

एहि विधि बीते बरष षट सहस बारि आहार।
संबत सप्त सहस्र पुनि रहे समीर अधार॥144॥
भावार्थ:
इस प्रकार छह हजार वर्ष केवल जल पर निर्भर रहकर तप किया। फिर सात हजार वर्ष वायु को ही आधार बनाकर जिए।
English Translation:
Thus passed 6,000 years sustained solely on water. Then, for 7,000 more years, they lived on air alone.

बरष सहस दस त्यागेउ सोऊ। ठाढ़े रहे एक पद दोऊ॥
बिधि हरि हर तप देखि अपारा। मनु समीप आए बहु बारा॥1॥
भावार्थ:
दस हजार वर्षों तक उन्होंने वायु भी छोड़ दी और दोनों एक पैर पर खड़े रहे। उनका अपार तप देखकर ब्रह्मा, विष्णु और शिव कई बार उनके पास आए।
English Translation:
For 10,000 more years, they renounced even air, standing on one leg in unwavering penance. Witnessing their extreme austerity, Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva approached them multiple times.

मागहु बर बहु भाँति लोभाए। परम धीर नहिं चलहिं चलाए॥
अस्थिमात्र होइ रहे सरीरा। तदपि मनाग मनहिं नहिं पीरा॥2॥
भावार्थ:
देवताओं ने उन्हें अनेक प्रकार से लोभ दिया, वर माँगने को कहा, पर वे परम धैर्यवान डिगे नहीं। शरीर केवल हड्डियों का ढाँचा रह गया, फिर भी मन में कोई पीड़ा नहीं थी।
English Translation:
The gods tempted them in various ways to ask for a boon, but the couple stood resolute. Though their bodies had reduced to mere skeletons, their minds did not feel even the slightest pain.

प्रभु सर्बग्य दास निज जानी। गति अनन्य तापस नृप रानी॥
मागु मागु बरु भै नभ बानी। परम गभीर कृपामृत सानी॥3॥
भावार्थ:
सर्वज्ञ प्रभु ने उन्हें अपना अनन्य भक्त जाना। फिर आकाश से परम गंभीर, कृपा से सनी वाणी आई— ‘वर माँगो।’
English Translation:
The all-knowing Lord recognized them as His exclusive devotees. Then a deep, grace-filled celestial voice echoed— “Ask for a boon.”

मृतक जिआवनि गिरा सुहाई। श्रवन रंध्र होइ उर जब आई॥
हृष्ट पुष्ट तन भए सुहाए। मानहुँ अबहिं भवन ते आए॥4॥
भावार्थ:
मुर्दे को भी जिला देने वाली वह मधुर वाणी जब कानों से होकर हृदय में पहुँची, तो उनका शरीर सुंदर और हृष्ट-पुष्ट हो गया, मानो अभी महल से आए हों।
English Translation:
The life-giving voice, sweet and divine, entered their hearts through their ears, and instantly their withered forms became radiant and robust, as if just emerged from royal chambers.

श्रवन सुधा सम बचन सुनि पुलक प्रफुल्लित गात।
बोले मनु करि दंडवत प्रेम न हृदयँ समात॥145॥
भावार्थ:
कानों में अमृत जैसे वचन सुनकर उनका शरीर पुलकित और आनंद से भर गया। मनुजी दण्डवत प्रणाम करके बोले— प्रेम हृदय में समा नहीं रहा।
English Translation:
Upon hearing the nectar-like words, their bodies trembled with joy. Manu ji, overwhelmed with devotion, prostrated and said — “My heart overflows with love.”

सुनु सेवक सुरतरु सुरधेनू। बिधि हरि हर बंदित पद रेनू॥
सेवत सुलभ सकल सुखदायक। प्रनतपाल सचराचर नायक॥1॥
भावार्थ:
हे प्रभो! आप सेवकों के लिए कल्पवृक्ष और कामधेनु हैं। आपके चरणों की रज ब्रह्मा, विष्णु और शिव भी पूजते हैं। आप सेवा से सुलभ और सब सुख देने वाले, शरणागत के रक्षक हैं।
English Translation:
“O Lord! You are the wish-fulfilling tree and the divine cow for Your devotees. Even Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva venerate the dust of Your feet. Easily accessible to Your servants, You are the source of all joy and the protector of all creation.”

जौं अनाथ हित हम पर नेहू। तौ प्रसन्न होई यह बर देहू॥
जोसरूप बस सिव मन माहीं। जेहिं कारन मुनि जतन कराहीं॥2॥
भावार्थ:
यदि अनाथों पर आपका प्रेम है, तो प्रसन्न होकर वह वर दें— वही रूप जो शिवजी के मन में बसता है और जिसे पाने के लिए मुनि यत्न करते हैं।
English Translation:
“If You truly love the helpless, then grant us this boon: to behold the very form that resides in Lord Shiv’s heart, the form sought by sages through rigorous penance.”

जो भुसुंडि मन मानस हंसा। सगुन अगुन जेहि निगम प्रसंसा॥
देखहिं हम सो रूप भरि लोचन। कृपा करहु प्रनतारति मोचन॥3॥
भावार्थ:
जो काकभुशुण्डि के मन सरोवर में विहार करने वाला हंस है, वेद जिसे सगुण और निर्गुण दोनों रूपों में प्रशंसा करते हैं। कृपा कर के हम उस रूप को नेत्र भरकर देखें।
English Translation:
“The One who dwells like a swan in Kakbhushundi’s sacred lake-like heart, whom the Vedas glorify as both with and without form—grant us Your grace, O Lord, that we may feast our eyes upon that form.”

दंपति बचन परम प्रिय लागे। मृदुल बिनीत प्रेम रस पागे॥
भगत बछल प्रभु कृपानिधाना। बिस्वबास प्रगटे भगवाना॥4॥
भावार्थ:
राजा-रानी के कोमल, विनीत और प्रेमरस में पगे हुए वचन भगवान को बहुत प्रिय लगे। भक्तवत्सल प्रभु, कृपानिधान और विश्वव्यापक भगवान प्रकट हो गए।
English Translation:
The Lord was deeply pleased by the couple’s soft, humble, and love-filled words. The compassionate, ever-loving Lord of the universe then revealed His divine form before them.

नील सरोरुह नील मनि नील नीरधर स्याम।
लाजहिं तन सोभा निरखि कोटि कोटि सत काम॥146॥
भावार्थ:
प्रभु का श्यामवर्ण शरीर नीले कमल, नीलमणि और जलयुक्त मेघ के समान था, जिसकी शोभा देखकर करोड़ों कामदेव भी लजा जाते हैं।
English Translation:
The Lord’s bluish form, glowing like a blue lotus, sapphire, and rain-laden cloud, radiated such beauty that even countless gods of love would feel ashamed.

सरद मयंक बदन छबि सींवा। चारु कपोल चिबुक दर ग्रीवा॥
अधर अरुन रद सुंदर नासा। बिधु कर निकर बिनिंदक हासा॥1॥
भावार्थ:
शरद पूर्णिमा के चंद्रमा जैसा उनका मुख परम सुंदर था। कपोल, ठोड़ी और गला अत्यंत आकर्षक। अधर अरुण, दाँत और नासिका अत्यंत सुडौल। उनकी हँसी चंद्रमा की किरणों को भी नीचा दिखा देती थी।
English Translation:
His face, like the autumn full moon, shone with divine brilliance. His cheeks, chin, and conch-like neck were exquisite. Crimson lips, radiant teeth, and a beautiful nose adorned His divine form. His smile outshone even the moon’s beams.

नव अंबुज अंबक छबि नीकी। चितवनि ललित भावँतीजी की॥
भृकुटि मनोज चाप छबि हारी। तिलक ललाट पटल दुतिकारी॥2॥
भावार्थ:
उनकी आँखें नवविकसित कमल जैसी थीं, और चितवन बहुत प्यारी। भौंहें कामदेव के धनुष की शोभा को मात देती थीं। ललाट पर तिलक तेजस्वी था।
English Translation:
His eyes glowed like freshly bloomed lotuses; His gaze captivated the soul. His arched brows outshone Cupid’s bow, and a radiant tilak adorned His forehead with divine splendor.

कुंडल मकर मुकुट सिर भ्राजा। कुटिल केस जनु मधुप समाजा॥
उर श्रीबत्स रुचिर बनमाला। पदिक हार भूषन मनिजाला॥3॥

भावार्थ:
कानों में मकराकृत कुंडल और सिर पर मुकुट सुशोभित था। टेढ़े काले बाल ऐसे थे, मानो भौंरों के झुंड हों। वक्ष पर श्रीवत्स, सुंदर वनमाला, रत्नजड़ित हार और मणियों के आभूषण सुशोभित थे।

English Translation:
His ears are adorned with fish-shaped earrings, and a radiant crown graces His head. His curly locks resemble a swarm of bees. Upon His chest gleams the sacred Shrivatsa mark. He wears a magnificent garland (vanamala) and dazzling gem-studded ornaments, further beautifying His broad chest.

केहरि कंधर चारु जनेऊ। बाहु बिभूषन सुंदर तेऊ॥
मकरि कर सरिस सुभग भुजदंडा। कटि निषंग कर सर कोदंडा॥4॥

भावार्थ:
सिंह के समान गर्दन, सुंदर जनेऊ, और भुजाओं में सुंदर गहने थे। भुजाएँ हाथी की सूँड जैसी सुंदर थीं। कमर में तरकस और हाथों में बाण व धनुष शोभा पा रहे थे।

English Translation:
His broad, strong neck resembled that of a lion and was adorned with a sacred thread. His arms, graceful like the trunk of an elephant, were ornamented with beautiful jewels. A quiver hung at His waist, and in His hands, He held a bow and arrow.

तड़ित बिनिंदक पीत पट उदर रेख बर तीनि।
नाभि मनोहर लेति जनु जमुन भँवर छबि छीनि॥147॥

भावार्थ:
बिजली को लजाने वाला पीताम्बर धारण किए थे। पेट पर सुंदर तीन रेखाएँ थीं और नाभि ऐसी मनोहर थी मानो यमुना के भँवरों की छवि को छीन लेती हो।

English Translation:
Lord Ram’s yellow garments shine brighter than lightning. His belly has three graceful lines, and His navel is so captivating it seems to steal the charm of the Yamuna’s whirlpools.

पद राजीव बरनि नहिं जाहीं। मुनि मन मधुप बसहिं जेन्ह माहीं॥
बाम भाग सोभति अनुकूला। आदिसक्ति छबिनिधि जगमूला॥1॥

भावार्थ:
मुनियों के मन रूपी भौंरे जिन चरणों में निवास करते हैं, उन चरणकमलों का वर्णन नहीं किया जा सकता। बाईं ओर जगत की मूल, शोभा की राशि श्री सीताजी सुशोभित हैं।

English Translation:
The beauty of His lotus feet—where sages’ minds rest like bees—is beyond words. At His left side stands the divine Adi Shakti Sita ji, the source of all beauty and the root of the universe.

जासु अंस उपजहिं गुनखानी। अगनित लच्छि उमा ब्रह्मानी॥
भृकुटि बिलास जासु जग होई। राम बाम दिसि सीता सोई॥2॥

भावार्थ:
जिनके अंश से अगणित लक्ष्मी, पार्वती और ब्रह्माणी उत्पन्न होती हैं और जिनकी भौंह के इशारे से जगत की रचना होती है, वही सीताजी श्रीराम की बाईं ओर स्थित हैं।

English Translation:
From Her fragment arise countless Lakshmis, Parvatis, and Brahmanis. With the arch of Her brow, creation is set in motion. That supreme Sita ji stands to the left of Lord Ram.

छबिसमुद्र हरि रूप बिलोकी। एकटक रहे नयन पट रोकी॥
चितवहिं सादर रूप अनूपा। तृप्ति न मानहिं मनु सतरूपा॥3॥

भावार्थ:
श्रीहरि के रूप रूपी छवि-सागर को देखकर मनु और शतरूपा पलकें रोके एकटक देखने लगे। वे आदर सहित देखते रहे, पर तृप्त न हुए।

English Translation:
Beholding the ocean of beauty that is Lord Hari, Manu and Satarupa gazed unblinking. Their hearts reverently drank in His form, yet they could not be satisfied.

हरष बिबस तन दसा भुलानी। परे दंड इव गहि पद पानी॥
सिर परसे प्रभु निज कर कंजा। तुरत उठाए करुनापुंजा॥4॥

भावार्थ:
हर्ष से शरीर की सुधि भूल गए। चरण पकड़कर दंडवत् हो गए। प्रभु ने अपने करकमलों से सिर छूकर उन्हें उठाया।

English Translation:
Overwhelmed with joy, they lost body awareness and fell like sticks at His feet. Lord Ram, embodiment of compassion, touched their heads and lovingly lifted them.

बोले कृपानिधान पुनि अति प्रसन्न मोहि जानि।
मागहु बर जोइ भाव मन महादानि अनुमानि॥148॥

भावार्थ:
प्रभु बोले- मुझे अत्यन्त प्रसन्न और बड़ा दानी जानकर, जो मन को भाए वह वर माँग लो।

English Translation:
The Lord, immensely pleased, said, “Know me as a generous giver and ask for whatever your heart desires.”

सुनि प्रभु बचन जोरि जुग पानी। धरि धीरजु बोली मृदु बानी॥
नाथ देखि पद कमल तुम्हारे। अब पूरे सब काम हमारे॥1॥

भावार्थ:
प्रभु के वचन सुनकर राजा ने हाथ जोड़कर धैर्य से कहा- हे नाथ! आपके चरण देख अब सब काम सिद्ध हो गए।

English Translation:
Hearing the Lord’s words, the king joined his hands and said softly, “O Lord, seeing Your feet has fulfilled all my desires.”

एक लालसा बड़ि उर माहीं। सुगम अगम कहि जाति सो नाहीं॥
तुम्हहि देत अति सुगम गोसाईं। अगम लाग मोहि निज कृपनाईं॥2॥

भावार्थ:
मन में एक बड़ी लालसा है, जो कहने में कठिन है। आपके लिए सहज है, पर मेरी दीनता के कारण कठिन प्रतीत होती है।

English Translation:
One deep longing remains in my heart—easy for You, but to me it feels difficult due to my own smallness.

जथा दरिद्र बिबुधतरु पाई। बहु संपति मागत सकुचाई॥
तासु प्रभाउ जान नहिं सोई। तथा हृदयँ मम संसय होई॥3॥

भावार्थ:
जैसे दरिद्र कल्पवृक्ष पाकर भी संकोच करता है, वैसे ही मैं संशय कर रहा हूँ, क्योंकि आपके प्रभाव को पूरी तरह नहीं जानता।

English Translation:
Just like a poor man hesitates before the Kalpavriksha due to ignorance of its powers, I too hesitate before You, not knowing Your boundless grace.

सो तुम्ह जानहु अंतरजामी। पुरवहु मोर मनोरथ स्वामी॥
सकुच बिहाइ मागु नृप मोही। मोरें नहिं अदेय कछु तोही॥4॥

भावार्थ:
आप अन्तर्यामी हैं, इसलिए जानते हैं। मेरी कामना पूरी कीजिए। (प्रभु बोले) संकोच छोड़ो, मुझसे माँगो। मेरे पास ऐसा कुछ नहीं जो तुम्हें न दे सकूँ।

English Translation:
You are the knower of all hearts. Fulfill my desire, O Lord. (Said the Lord) Do not hesitate, ask freely—there is nothing I would withhold from you.

दानि सिरोमनि कृपानिधि नाथ कहउँ सतिभाउ।
चाहउँ तुम्हहि समान सुत प्रभु सन कवन दुराउ॥149॥

भावार्थ:
(राजा ने कहा) हे दानियों के शिरोमणि! हे कृपानिधान! मैं सत्य भाव कहता हूँ- मैं आपके समान पुत्र चाहता हूँ। प्रभु से क्या छिपाना!

English Translation:
Manu said, “O Lord, jewel among givers, ocean of mercy! I speak my heart’s truth—I desire a son like You. What can be hidden from You?”
