भावार्थ:
हे तात! सुनो, माया से रचे हुए ही अनेक (सब) गुण और दोष हैं (इनकी कोई वास्तविक सत्ता नहीं है)। गुण (विवेक) इसी में है कि दोनों ही न देखे जाएँ, इन्हें देखना ही अविवेक है॥41॥
English Translation:
Listen, Brother, born out of the illusory energy, Maya, many virtues and vices exist. However, the greatest wisdom is to refrain from seeing these both in others, for doing so is unwise.
भावार्थ:
भगवान के श्रीमुख से ये वचन सुनकर सब भाई हर्षित हो गए। प्रेम उनके हृदयों में समाता नहीं। वे बार-बार बड़ी विनती करते हैं। विशेषकर हनुमान्जी के हृदय में अपार हर्ष है॥1॥
English Translation:
Hearing these words from the gracious mouth of Lord Ram, all His brothers rejoiced, their hearts overflowing with love. They offered humble supplications repeatedly. Hanuman ji’s heart, in particular, was filled with immense joy.
भावार्थ:
तदनन्तर श्री रामचंद्रजी अपने महल को गए। इस प्रकार वे नित्य नई लीला करते हैं। नारद मुनि अयोध्या में बार-बार आते हैं और आकर श्री रामजी के पवित्र चरित्र गाते हैं॥2॥
English Translation:
Then Shri Raghupati returned to His palace. In this way, the Lord performed new divine acts each day. Sage Narad frequently visited and sang of Lord Ram’s sacred exploits.
भावार्थ:
मुनि यहाँ से नित्य नए-नए चरित्र देखकर जाते हैं और ब्रह्मलोक में जाकर सब कथा कहते हैं। ब्रह्माजी सुनकर अत्यंत सुख मानते हैं (और कहते हैं-) हे तात! बार-बार श्री रामजी के गुणों का गान करो॥3॥
English Translation:
After witnessing a new deed by Lord Ram each day, Sage Narad returned to the abode of Lord Brahma and recited the entire story. Overjoyed upon hearing it, Lord Brahma said, “My son, continue to recite the virtues of Lord Ram again and again.”
भावार्थ:
सनकादि मुनि नारदजी की सराहना करते हैं। यद्यपि वे (सनकादि) मुनि ब्रह्मनिष्ठ हैं, परंतु श्री रामजी का गुणगान सुनकर वे भी अपनी ब्रह्मसमाधि को भूल जाते हैं और आदरपूर्वक उसे सुनते हैं। वे (रामकथा सुनने के) श्रेष्ठ अधिकारी हैं॥4॥
English Translation:
Sage Sanak and his brothers extolled Narad ji. Although Sage Sanak and his brothers were realized sages, always absorbed in deep meditation on the Absolute Brahm, they forgot their trance upon hearing the hymn of praise to the Lord. Supremely qualified as they were, they listened to Shri Ram’s exploits with utmost reverence.
भावार्थ:
सनकादि मुनि जैसे जीवन्मुक्त और ब्रह्मनिष्ठ पुरुष भी ध्यान (ब्रह्म समाधि) छोड़कर श्री रामजी के चरित्र सुनते हैं। यह जानकर भी जो श्री हरि की कथा से प्रेम नहीं करते, उनके हृदय (सचमुच ही) पत्थर (के समान) हैं॥42॥
English Translation:
Sage Sanak and his brothers, free from all worldly bonds and always absorbed in the Absolute Truth, relinquished their meditation to listen to Lord Ram’s exploits. Knowing this, the hearts that do not cherish stories of Lord Ram are truly like stone.
भावार्थ:
एक बार श्री रघुनाथजी के बुलाए हुए गुरु वशिष्ठजी, ब्राह्मण और अन्य सब नगर निवासी सभा में आए। जब गुरु, मुनि, ब्राह्मण तथा अन्य सब सज्जन यथायोग्य बैठ गए, तब भक्तों के जन्म-मरण को मिटाने वाले श्री रामजी वचन बोले-॥1॥

हे समस्त नगर निवासियों! मेरी बात सुनिए। यह बात मैं हृदय में कुछ ममता लाकर नहीं कहता हूँ। न अनीति की बात कहता हूँ और न इसमें कुछ प्रभुता ही है, इसलिए (संकोच और भय छोड़कर, ध्यान देकर) मेरी बातों को सुन लो और (फिर) यदि तुम्हें अच्छी लगे, तो उसके अनुसार करो!॥2॥

All citizens, listen to me. I am not speaking out of any attachment in my heart, nor am I saying anything unjust or exercising my authority. So hear me out, and if you agree, then act accordingly…

वही मेरा सेवक है और वही प्रियतम है, जो मेरी आज्ञा माने। हे भाई! यदि मैं कुछ अनीति की बात कहूँ तो भय भुलाकर (बेखटके) मुझे रोक देना॥3॥

बड़े भाग्य से यह मनुष्य शरीर मिला है। सब ग्रंथों ने यही कहा है कि यह शरीर देवताओं को भी दुर्लभ है (कठिनता से मिलता है)। यह साधन का धाम और मोक्ष का दरवाजा है। इसे पाकर भी जिसने परलोक न बना लिया,॥4॥

भावार्थ:
वह परलोक में दुःख पाता है, सिर पीट-पीटकर पछताता है तथा (अपना दोष न समझकर) काल पर, कर्म पर और ईश्वर पर मिथ्या दोष लगाता है॥43॥

हे भाई! इस शरीर के प्राप्त होने का फल विषयभोग नहीं है (इस जगत् के भोगों की तो बात ही क्या) स्वर्ग का भोग भी बहुत थोड़ा है और अंत में दुःख देने वाला है। अतः जो लोग मनुष्य शरीर पाकर विषयों में मन लगा देते हैं, वे मूर्ख अमृत को बदलकर विष ले लेते हैं॥1॥

माया की प्रेरणा से काल, कर्म, स्वभाव और गुण से घिरा हुआ (इनके वश में हुआ) यह सदा भटकता रहता है। बिना ही कारण स्नेह करने वाले ईश्वर कभी विरले ही दया करके इसे मनुष्य का शरीर देते हैं।

Driven by Maya (the Lord’s illusory energy) and bound by time, karma (actions), nature, and qualities, the soul endlessly wanders. The Lord—unconditionally loving and without motive—rarely, but graciously, grants a human form to it.

यह मनुष्य का शरीर भवसागर (से तारने) के लिए बेड़ा (जहाज) है। मेरी कृपा ही अनुकूल वायु है। सद्गुरु इस मजबूत जहाज के कर्णधार (खेने वाले) हैं। इस प्रकार दुर्लभ साधन सहज ही उसे प्राप्त हो गए हैं।
English Translation:
The human body is a vessel to cross the ocean of worldly existence. My grace is the favourable wind, and the true Guru is the skilled helmsman. Thus, this rare equipment has become easily accessible.
भावार्थ:
जो मनुष्य ऐसे साधन पाकर भी भवसागर से न तरे, वह कृतघ्न और मंद बुद्धि है और आत्महत्या करने वाले की गति को प्राप्त होता है।
English Translation:
If a person, having gained all these divine aids, still fails to cross the ocean of worldly existence, they are ungrateful, dull-witted, and meet the fate of one who destroys their own soul.
भावार्थ:
यदि परलोक में और यहाँ दोनों जगह सुख चाहते हो, तो मेरे वचन सुनकर उन्हें हृदय में दृढ़ता से पकड़ रखो। हे भाई! यह मेरी भक्ति का मार्ग सुलभ और सुखदायक है, पुराणों और वेदों ने इसे गाया है।
English Translation:
If you wish for joy here and in the afterlife, then hold firmly to my words. O Brother, the path of devotion to me is easy and blissful, and it is praised by the Vedas and Puranas.
भावार्थ:
ज्ञान अगम (दुर्गम) है, उसकी प्राप्ति में अनेकों विघ्न हैं। उसका साधन कठिन है और उसमें मन के लिए कोई आधार नहीं है। बहुत कष्ट करने पर कोई उसे पा भी लेता है, तो वह भी भक्तिरहित होने से मुझको प्रिय नहीं होता।
English Translation:
Knowledge of the Supreme is difficult, full of obstacles, and its discipline is hard, offering no rest to the heart. Even if someone gains it with effort, without devotion they are not dear to me.
भावार्थ:
भक्ति स्वतंत्र है और सब सुखों की खान है, परंतु सत्संग के बिना प्राणी इसे नहीं पा सकते। पुण्य के बिना संत नहीं मिलते और सत्संगति ही संसार के चक्र का अंत करती है।
English Translation:
Devotion is independent and the source of all happiness. Yet, without holy company, none attain it. Saints are met only through great merit, and such company ends the cycle of rebirth.
भावार्थ:
जगत् में पुण्य एक ही है, उसके समान दूसरा नहीं—वह है मन, वचन और कर्म से ब्राह्मणों की पूजा। जो कपट छोड़कर ब्राह्मणों की सेवा करता है, मुनि और देवता उस पर प्रसन्न रहते हैं।
English Translation:
There is only one supreme merit in this world—worshipping the feet of Brahmins with mind, word, and deed. The Sages and Gods favour the one who, shedding deceit, sincerely serves the learned.
भावार्थ:
और भी एक गुप्त मत है, मैं उसे सबसे हाथ जोड़कर कहता हूँ कि शंकरजी के भजन बिना मनुष्य मेरी भक्ति नहीं पाता।

Let me share another sacred secret with folded hands—without devotion to Lord Shankar, no one can attain devotion to me.
भावार्थ:
कहो तो, भक्ति मार्ग में कौन-सा परिश्रम है? इसमें न योग की आवश्यकता है, न यज्ञ, जप, तप और उपवास की! (यहाँ इतना ही आवश्यक है कि) सरल स्वभाव हो, मन में कुटिलता न हो और जो कुछ मिले उसी में सदा संतोष रखे॥1॥

Tell me, then, does it take any effort to remain steadfast on the path of devotion? One does not need to practise Yoga, perform sacrifices, chant, undertake penance, or fast. All that is required is a simple disposition, a mind free of deceit, and the ability to always remain content with whatever one receives…

मेरा दास कहलाकर यदि कोई मनुष्यों की आशा करता है, तो तुम्हीं कहो, उसका क्या विश्वास है? (अर्थात् उसकी मुझ पर आस्था बहुत ही निर्बल है।) बहुत बात बढ़ाकर क्या हूँ? हे भाइयों! मैं तो इसी आचरण के वश में हूँ॥2॥

न किसी से वैर करे, न लड़ाई-झगड़ा करे, न आशा रखे, न भय ही करे। उसके लिए सभी दिशाएँ सदा सुखमयी हैं। जो कोई भी आरंभ (फल की इच्छा से कर्म) नहीं करता, जिसका कोई अपना घर नहीं है (जिसकी घर में ममता नहीं है), जो मानहीन, पापहीन और क्रोधहीन है, जो (भक्ति करने में) निपुण और विज्ञानवान् है॥3॥

One who harbours no enmity and does not pick a fight with anyone, one who has no expectations and fears no one. For such people, all the ten directions are ever full of joy. They act selflessly, remain detached from home and family ties, are free from ego, sinless, devoid of anger, and excel in both devotion to me and spiritual wisdom…

संतजनों के संसर्ग (सत्संग) से जिसे सदा प्रेम है, जिसके मन में सब विषय यहाँ तक कि स्वर्ग और मुक्ति तक (भक्ति के सामने) तृण के समान हैं, जो भक्ति के पक्ष में हठ करता है, पर (दूसरे के मत का खण्डन करने की) मूर्खता नहीं करता तथा जिसने सब कुतर्कों को दूर बहा दिया है ॥4॥

They always cherish the company of saintly people and let go of all material desires, including heaven and liberation, like a blade of grass. They are steadfast in their devotion to me and do not discriminate against others’ faiths. They have abandoned all negative speculations and skepticism…
भावार्थ:
जो मेरे गुण समूहों के और मेरे नाम के परायण है, एवं ममता, मद और मोह से रहित है, उसका सुख वही जानता है, जो (परमात्मारूप) परमानन्दराशि को प्राप्त है॥46॥

A person devoted to singing and meditating on my virtues, and chanting my name after renouncing all attachments, false pride, and infatuation, attains supreme bliss known only to him.”

श्रीरामचन्द्रजी के अमृत के समान वचन सुनकर सबने कृपाधाम के चरण पकड़ लिए (और कहा-) हे कृपानिधान! आप हमारे माता, पिता, गुरु, भाई सब कुछ हैं और प्राणों से भी अधिक प्रिय हैं॥1॥

और हे शरणागत के दुःख हरने वाले रामजी! आप ही हमारे शरीर, धन, घर-द्वार और सभी प्रकार से हित करने वाले हैं। ऐसी शिक्षा आपके अतिरिक्त कोई नहीं दे सकता। माता-पिता (हितैषी हैं और शिक्षा भी देते हैं) परन्तु वे भी स्वार्थपरायण हैं (इसलिए ऐसी परम हितकारी शिक्षा नहीं देते)॥2॥

In every way, You are the well-wisher of our body, wealth, and home. O’ Shri Ram, You dispel the sorrows of those who seek refuge in You. No one but You could have given such counsel. Even one’s own parents are often devoted to their own interests…

हे असुरों के शत्रु! जगत् में बिना हेतु के (निःस्वार्थ) उपकार करने वाले तो दो ही हैं- एक आप, दूसरे आपके सेवक। जगत् में (शेष) सभी स्वार्थ के मित्र हैं। हे प्रभो! उनमें स्वप्न में भी परमार्थ का भाव नहीं है॥3॥
English Translation:
O’ Enemy of the demons, there are only two beings in this world who are selflessly benevolent – You and Your devotees. Everyone else in this world forms friendships out of selfish interests. O’ Lord, no one thinks of another’s highest spiritual welfare, not even in their dreams.”
भावार्थ:
सबके प्रेम रस में सने हुए वचन सुनकर श्री रघुनाथजी हृदय में हर्षित हुए। फिर आज्ञा पाकर सब प्रभु की सुन्दर बातचीत का वर्णन करते हुए अपने-अपने घर गए॥4॥

Hearing everyone’s words, steeped in the nectar of love, Shri Raghunath’s heart filled with joy. With the Lord’s permission, everyone departed to their respective homes, praising Lord Ram’s enchanting discourse along the way.
