भावार्थ:
कामदेव के शत्रु शिवजी के सेव्य, भव (जन्म-मृत्यु) के भय को हरने वाले, काल रूपी मतवाले हाथी के लिए सिंह के समान, योगियों के स्वामी (योगीश्वर), ज्ञान के द्वारा जानने योग्य, गुणों की निधि, अजेय, निर्गुण, निर्विकार, माया से परे, देवताओं के स्वामी, दुष्टों के वध में तत्पर, ब्राह्मणवृन्द के एकमात्र देवता (रक्षक), जल वाले मेघ के समान सुंदर श्याम, कमल के से नेत्र वाले, पृथ्वीपति (राजा) के रूप में परमदेव श्री रामजी की मैं वंदना करता हूँ॥1॥
English Translation:
I worship Shri Ram, the Supreme Lord, who is adored by the enemy of Cupid Lord Shiv, the One who dispels the fear of repeated births and deaths, who is like a lion to the intoxicated elephants in the form of time or death, who is the Lord of realized sages, who can be understood through knowledge, who is a repository of virtues, who is unconquerable, devoid of material qualities, free from material defects, beyond material nature (Maya), the Lord of Demigods, devoted to destroying evil-doers, the sole protector of Brahmins, beautiful as a rain-filled cloud, with lotus eyes, and the One who has appeared as the King of Earth.
भावार्थ:
शंख और चंद्रमा की सी कांति के अत्यंत सुंदर शरीर वाले, व्याघ्रचर्म के वस्त्र वाले, काल के समान (अथवा काले रंग के) भयानक सर्पों का भूषण धारण करने वाले, गंगा और चंद्रमा के प्रेमी, काशीपति, कलियुग के पाप समूह का नाश करने वाले, कल्याण के कल्पवृक्ष, गुणों के निधान और कामदेव को भस्म करने वाले, पार्वती पति वन्दनीय श्री शंकरजी को मैं नमस्कार करता हूँ॥2॥
English Translation:
I bow to Lord Shiv, whose charm is incomparable, with fair complexion like a conch shell and the Moon. He is adorned with clothing made of tiger’s skin and ornaments made of snakes, which are terrifying like Death. He is fond of the celestial river Ganga and the Moon, the Lord of the sacred city of Kashi, the destroyer of all sins of the age of Kali, akin to the Kalpavriksh, the celestial wish-fulfilling tree, the embodiment of all virtues, the destroyer of Cupid, and the revered husband of Goddess Parvati.
भावार्थ:
जो सत् पुरुषों को अत्यंत दुर्लभ कैवल्यमुक्ति तक दे डालते हैं और जो दुष्टों को दण्ड देने वाले हैं, वे कल्याणकारी श्री शम्भु मेरे कल्याण का विस्तार करें॥3॥
English Translation:
May Lord Shambhu, the bestower of blessings, the One who easily grants liberation to pious beings, which is extremely difficult to obtain, and who punishes the wrongdoers, may He extend His blessings upon me.
भावार्थ:
लव, निमेष, परमाणु, वर्ष, युग और कल्प जिनके प्रचण्ड बाण हैं और काल जिनका धनुष है, हे मन! तू उन श्री रामजी को क्यों नहीं भजता?
English Translation:
O’ Heart, why do you not worship Lord Ram, who wields the time as His bow and commands the various divisions of time, namely, a millisecond, an atom, an era, a year, and the lifespan of the universe, for His fierce arrows?
भावार्थ:
समुद्र के वचन सुनकर प्रभु श्री रामजी ने मंत्रियों को बुलाकर ऐसा कहा- अब विलंब किसलिए हो रहा है? सेतु (पुल) तैयार करो, जिसमें सेना उतरे।
English Translation:
Upon hearing the Ocean’s words, Shri Ram summoned the ministers, and the Lord said, “What is the reason for delay now? Build the bridge so that the army may cross over.”
भावार्थ:
जाम्बवान् ने हाथ जोड़कर कहा- हे सूर्यकुल के ध्वजास्वरूप (कीर्ति को बढ़ाने वाले) श्री रामजी! सुनिए। हे नाथ! (सबसे बड़ा) सेतु तो आपका नाम ही है, जिस पर चढ़कर (जिसका आश्रय लेकर) मनुष्य संसार रूपी समुद्र से पार हो जाते हैं।
English Translation:
Joining his palms Jambvant said, “O’ Glory of the Solar race, Your name itself, my Lord, is the bridge on which men can embark and cross the ocean of mundane existence.”
भावार्थ:
फिर यह छोटा सा समुद्र पार करने में कितनी देर लगेगी? ऐसा सुनकर फिर पवनकुमार श्री हनुमान्जी ने कहा- प्रभु का प्रताप भारी बड़वानल (समुद्र की आग) के समान है। इसने पहले समुद्र के जल को सोख लिया था॥1॥
English Translation:
Then crossing this small ocean will not take much time. Hearing this, Hanuman ji, the son of the Wind God said, “Lord, Your glory is like the massive fire that burns beneath the ocean’s bed. It had earlier dried up the ocean of its water.”
भावार्थ:
परन्तु आपके शत्रुओं की स्त्रियों के आँसुओं की धारा से यह फिर भर गया और उसी से खारा भी हो गया। हनुमान्जी की यह अत्युक्ति (अलंकारपूर्ण युक्ति) सुनकर वानर श्री रघुनाथजी की ओर देखकर हर्षित हो गए॥2॥
English Translation:
But the ocean was filled again by the stream of tears shed by Your enemies’ wives, and that is why the water has turned salty.” Hearing such a hyperbolic remark, the monkeys rejoiced and gazed at the countenance of Shri Ram.
भावार्थ:
जाम्बवान् ने नल-नील दोनों भाइयों को बुलाकर उन्हें सारी कथा कह सुनाई (और कहा-) मन में श्री रामजी के प्रताप को स्मरण करके सेतु तैयार करो, (रामप्रताप से) कुछ भी परिश्रम नहीं होगा॥3॥
English Translation:
Jambvant then called upon the two brothers, Nal and Neel. He narrated the entire episode to them and said, “Invoke the glory of Shri Ram in your hearts and start building the bridge, and you will experience no difficulty.”
भावार्थ:
फिर वानरों के समूह को बुला लिया (और कहा-) आप सब लोग मेरी कुछ विनती सुनिए। अपने हृदय में श्री रामजी के चरण-कमलों को धारण कर लीजिए और सब भालू और वानर एक खेल कीजिए॥4॥
English Translation:
Then he called upon the groups of monkeys and said, “Listen to my request, enshrine Lord Ram’s feet in your hearts, and let all the monkeys and bears engage in a playful act.”
भावार्थ:
विकट वानरों के समूह (आप) दौड़ जाइए और वृक्षों तथा पर्वतों के समूहों को उखाड़ लाइए। यह सुनकर वानर और भालू हूह (हुँकार) करके और श्री रघुनाथजी के प्रताप समूह की (अथवा प्रताप के पुंज श्री रामजी की) जय पुकारते हुए चले॥5॥
English Translation:
Go forth formidable troops of monkeys, and bring numerous trees and mountains.” Hearing his command, the monkeys and bears set forth, cheering and exclaiming, “Glory to the Almighty Raghuveer, the repository of valour.”
