भावार्थ:
भाई के वचन सुनकर विभीषण लौट गए और वहाँ आए, जहाँ त्रिलोकी के भूषण श्री रामजी थे। (विभीषण ने कहा-) हे नाथ! पर्वत के समान (विशाल) देह वाला रणधीर कुंभकर्ण आ रहा है॥1॥
English Translation:
After listening to his brother’s words, Vibhishan left and reached the place where Lord Ram, the ornament of the three spheres of the cosmos, was present. He said, “Lord, the one whose body is like a mountain, who is staunch in battle, that Kumbhkaran has now entered the battlefield.”
भावार्थ:
वानरों ने जब कानों से इतना सुना, तब वे बलवान् किलकिलाकर (हर्षध्वनि करके) दौड़े। वृक्ष और पर्वत (उखाड़कर) उठा लिए और (क्रोध से) दाँत कटकटाकर उन्हें उसके ऊपर डालने लगे॥2॥
English Translation:
As soon as the brave monkeys heard these words, they let out a shrill roar and rushed to face Kumbhkaran on the battlefield. They uprooted trees and mountains and hurled them at Kumbhkaran, gnashing their teeth in anger.
भावार्थ:
रीछ-वानर एक-एक बार में ही करोड़ों पहाड़ों के शिखरों से उस पर प्रहार करते हैं, परन्तु इससे न तो उसका मन ही मुड़ा (विचलित हुआ) और न शरीर ही टाले टला, जैसे मदार के फलों की मार से हाथी पर कुछ भी असर नहीं होता!॥3॥
English Translation:
The monkeys and bears hurled millions of mountain peaks and rocks at Kumbhkaran each time, but he neither lost his spirit nor did he even stir from his position despite their best efforts to push him back, just like an elephant remains unmoved when pelted with the fruits of the mandar plant.
भावार्थ:
तब हनुमान्जी ने उसे एक घूँसा मारा, जिससे वह व्याकुल होकर पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़ा और सिर पीटने लगा। फिर उसने उठकर हनुमान्जी को मारा। वे चक्कर खाकर तुरंत ही पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़े॥4॥
English Translation:
Thereupon Hanuman ji, son of the Wind God, struck him with a powerful blow of his fist, causing Kumbhkaran to fall agitatedly to the ground. Shaken and frustrated, Kumbhkaran began to beat his head. Rising again, he hit Hanuman ji back with such great force that Hanuman ji took a twirl and fell unconscious on the ground.
भावार्थ:
फिर उसने नल-नील को पृथ्वी पर पछाड़ दिया और दूसरे योद्धाओं को भी जहाँ-तहाँ पटककर डाल दिया। वानर सेना भाग चली। सब अत्यंत भयभीत हो गए, कोई सामने नहीं आता॥5॥
English Translation:
After that, Kumbhkaran tossed Nal and Neel to the ground and began knocking down monkey warriors all over the battlefield. The monkey army started fleeing in extreme fear, and no one dared to face Kumbhkaran.
भावार्थ:
सुग्रीव समेत अंगदादि वानरों को मूर्छित करके फिर वह अपरिमित बल की सीमा कुंभकर्ण वानरराज सुग्रीव को काँख में दाबकर चला॥65॥
English Translation:
After rendering Angad and the other monkeys unconscious, Kumbhkaran, the one with boundless strength, pressed the Monkey King Sugriv under his armpit and sallied forward.
भावार्थ:
(शिवजी कहते हैं-) हे उमा! श्री रघुनाथजी वैसे ही नरलीला कर रहे हैं, जैसे गरुड़ सर्पों के समूह में मिलकर खेलता हो। जो भौंह के इशारे मात्र से (बिना परिश्रम के) काल को भी खा जाता है, उसे कहीं ऐसी लड़ाई शोभा देती है?॥1॥
English Translation:
Lord Shiv tells Goddess Parvati, “O’ Uma, Lord Ram in His avatar is performing human exploits just like the mighty Lord of Birds, Garud ji, would sport in the company of serpents. With the mere movement of His eyebrows, the Lord can devour the God of Death itself. Can such a fight befit Him?”
भावार्थ:
भगवान् (इसके द्वारा) जगत् को पवित्र करने वाली वह कीर्ति फैलाएँगे, जिसे गा-गाकर मनुष्य भवसागर से तर जाएँगे। मूर्च्छा जाती रही, तब मारुति हनुमान्जी जागे और फिर वे सुग्रीव को खोजने लगे॥2॥
English Translation:
…Through this act, the Lord is going to spread His glory, which will make the entire world pious. By singing of His deeds, men will be able to cross the ocean of mundane existence, thereby putting an end to the repeated cycle of births and deaths.” Meanwhile, Hanuman ji regained consciousness and went around searching for Sugriv.
भावार्थ:
सुग्रीव की भी मूर्च्छा दूर हुई, तब वे (मुर्दे से होकर) खिसक गए (काँख से नीचे गिर पड़े)। कुम्भकर्ण ने उनको मृतक जाना। उन्होंने कुम्भकर्ण के नाक-कान दाँतों से काट लिए और फिर गरज कर आकाश की ओर चले, तब कुम्भकर्ण ने जाना॥3॥
English Translation:
Meanwhile, Sugriv too recovered from his unconscious state and slipped out of Kumbhkaran’s grip, as the latter had loosened his hold, assuming Sugriv to be dead. Kumbhkaran realized that Sugriv had escaped only when Sugriv bit off the monster’s nose and ears and ascended towards the sky, roaring.
भावार्थ:
उसने सुग्रीव का पैर पकड़कर उनको पृथ्वी पर पछाड़ दिया। फिर सुग्रीव ने बड़ी फुर्ती से उठकर उसको मारा और तब बलवान् सुग्रीव प्रभु के पास आए और बोले- कृपानिधान प्रभु की जय हो, जय हो, जय हो॥4॥
English Translation:
Kumbhkaran caught Sugriv’s foot and hurled him to the ground. Sugriv quickly got up and hit him back with great agility. The mighty hero, Sugriv, then came to Lord Ram and shouted, “Victory, victory, all glory to the ocean of mercy, Shri Ram!”
भावार्थ:
नाक-कान काटे गए, ऐसा मन में जानकर बड़ी ग्लानि हुई और वह क्रोध करके लौटा। एक तो वह स्वभाव (आकृति) से ही भयंकर था और फिर बिना नाक-कान का होने से और भी भयानक हो गया। उसे देखते ही वानरों की सेना में भय उत्पन्न हो गया॥5॥
English Translation:
Kumbhkaran was filled with remorse in his heart when he realized that he had been deprived of his nose and ears, and he turned back in fury towards the monkey army. Kumbhkaran was naturally fearsome, and now his extra horrific appearance further terrorised the monkey troops.
भावार्थ:
‘रघुवंशमणि की जय हो, जय हो’ ऐसा पुकारकर वानर हूह करके दौड़े और सबने एक ही साथ उस पर पहाड़ और वृक्षों के समूह छोड़े॥66॥
English Translation:
Taking out hoo-hoo sound the monkey troops chanted loudly, “Victory, victory, victory to the crown of the Raghu clan, Shri Ram.” They then hurled mountains, rocks, and trees at Kumbhkaran all at once.
भावार्थ:
रण के उत्साह में कुंभकर्ण विरुद्ध होकर (उनके) सामने ऐसा चला मानो क्रोधित होकर काल ही आ रहा हो। वह करोड़-करोड़ वानरों को एक साथ पकड़कर खाने लगा! (वे उसके मुँह में इस तरह घुसने लगे) मानो पर्वत की गुफा में टिड्डियाँ समा रही हों॥1॥
English Translation:
Kumbhkaran, intoxicated by the lust for battle, marched against the enemy like the furious God of Death. He began grabbing millions of monkeys and devouring them all at once. The scene resembled a swarm of locusts entering a mountain cave.
भावार्थ:
करोड़ों (वानरों) को पकड़कर उसने शरीर से मसल डाला। करोड़ों को हाथों से मलकर पृथ्वी की धूल में मिला दिया। (पेट में गए हुए) भालू और वानरों के ठट्ट के ठट्ट उसके मुख, नाक और कानों की राह से निकल-निकलकर भाग रहे हैं॥2॥
English Translation:
He seized millions of monkeys, crushing them against his body, and millions more he crushed between his palms, mixing them with the dust on the battleground. Hordes of monkeys and bears fled from the passages of his nostrils, mouth, and ears.
भावार्थ:
रण के मद में मत्त राक्षस कुंभकर्ण इस प्रकार गर्वित हुआ, मानो विधाता ने उसको सारा विश्व अर्पण कर दिया हो और उसे वह ग्रास कर जाएगा। सब योद्धा भाग खड़े हुए, वे लौटाए भी नहीं लौटते। आँखों से उन्हें सूझ नहीं पड़ता और पुकारने से सुनते नहीं!॥3॥
English Translation:
The demon, high on the excitement of battle, felt proud as if God had offered him the entire world to devour. The brave warriors began to turn around and flee, refusing to return to the fight even when ordered. Their eyes refused to see, and their ears stopped listening.
भावार्थ:
कुंभकर्ण ने वानर सेना को तितर-बितर कर दिया। यह सुनकर राक्षस सेना भी दौड़ी। श्री रामचंद्रजी ने देखा कि अपनी सेना व्याकुल है और शत्रु की नाना प्रकार की सेना आ गई है॥4॥
English Translation:
Hearing that Kumbhkaran had scattered the monkey army and they were fleeing in fear, the demon army sallied forward. Lord Ram saw His monkey army in distress and many reinforcements from the demon armies pouring in.
भावार्थ:
तब कमलनयन श्री रामजी बोले- हे सुग्रीव! हे विभीषण! और हे लक्ष्मण! सुनो, तुम सेना को संभालना। मैं इस दुष्ट के बल और सेना को देखता हूँ॥67॥
English Translation:
The lotus-eyed Shri Ram said, “Listen, Sugriv, Vibhishan, and Lakshman, take care of the army while I go and test the strength and man-power of this wretch.”
भावार्थ:
हाथ में शार्गंधनुष और कमर में तरकस सजाकर श्री रघुनाथजी शत्रु सेना को दलन करने चले। प्रभु ने पहले तो धनुष का टंकार किया, जिसकी भयानक आवाज सुनते ही शत्रु दल बहरा हो गया॥1॥
English Translation:
Adorning the Sharang bow in His hands and fastening the quiver at His waist, Shri Raghunath sallied forth to crush the enemy. The Lord first twanged His bow, hearing the sound of which, the enemy platoon turned deaf.
भावार्थ:
फिर सत्यप्रतिज्ञ श्री रामजी ने एक लाख बाण छोड़े। वे ऐसे चले मानो पंखवाले काल सर्प चले हों। जहाँ-तहाँ बहुत से बाण चले, जिनसे भयंकर राक्षस योद्धा कटने लगे॥2॥
English Translation:
The Lord, whose words are enshrined in truth, discharged one hundred thousand arrows that flew like black cobras. Numerous iron arrows flew in every direction, cutting down the formidable demon fighters.
भावार्थ:
उनके चरण, छाती, सिर और भुजदण्ड कट रहे हैं। बहुत से वीरों के सौ-सौ टुकड़े हो जाते हैं। घायल चक्कर खा-खाकर पृथ्वी पर पड़ रहे हैं। उत्तम योद्धा फिर संभलकर उठते और लड़ते हैं॥3॥
English Translation:
Whirling round and round, the wounded fell to the ground. Some champions among them rose and, recovering themselves, they joined the battle again.
भावार्थ:
बाण लगते ही वे मेघ की तरह गरजते हैं। बहुत से तो कठिन बाणों को देखकर ही भाग जाते हैं। बिना मुण्ड (सिर) के प्रचण्ड रुण्ड (धड़) दौड़ रहे हैं और ‘पकड़ो, पकड़ो, मारो, मारो’ का शब्द करते हुए गा (चिल्ला) रहे हैं॥4॥
English Translation:
They thundered like clouds as the arrows struck them, while many took flight at the very sight of the terrible arrows. Formidable headless bodies ran in the battlefield, shouting, “Seize, seize, kill, kill.”
भावार्थ:
प्रभु के बाणों ने क्षण मात्र में भयानक राक्षसों को काटकर रख दिया। फिर वे सब बाण लौटकर श्री रघुनाथजी के तरकस में घुस गए॥68॥
English Translation:
Within seconds, the Lord’s arrows decimated the formidable demon army. Then, all these arrows automatically returned to Shri Raghuveer’s quiver.
भावार्थ:
कुंभकर्ण ने मन में विचार कर देखा कि श्री रामजी ने क्षण मात्र में राक्षसी सेना का संहार कर डाला। तब वह महाबली वीर अत्यंत क्रोधित हुआ और उसने गंभीर सिंहनाद किया॥1॥
English Translation:
When Kumbhkaran realized in his heart that Shri Ram had annihilated the demon army in an instant, the mighty and brave demon became extremely furious and roared loudly like a lion, the king among beasts.
भावार्थ:
वह क्रोध करके पर्वत उखाड़ लेता है और जहाँ भारी-भारी वानर योद्धा होते हैं, वहाँ डाल देता है। बड़े-बड़े पर्वतों को आते देखकर प्रभु ने उनको बाणों से काटकर धूल के समान (चूर-चूर) कर डाला॥2॥
English Translation:
In a fit of fury, he uprooted mountains and started hurling where ever he saw any brave monkey warriors. Seeing the mighty mountains approaching, Lord Ram shattered them into dust with His arrows.
भावार्थ:
फिर श्री रघुनाथजी ने क्रोध करके धनुष को तानकर बहुत से अत्यंत भयानक बाण छोड़े। वे बाण कुंभकर्ण के शरीर में घुसकर (पीछे से इस प्रकार) निकल जाते हैं (कि उनका पता नहीं चलता), जैसे बिजलियाँ बादल में समा जाती हैं॥3॥
English Translation:
Then, aiming His bow in rage, Lord Raghunayak discharged numerous extremely formidable arrows at Kumbhkaran. The arrows entered and passed through his body like flashes of lightning piercing through a dark thundercloud.
भावार्थ:
उसके काले शरीर से रुधिर बहता हुआ ऐसे शोभा देता है, मानो काजल के पर्वत से गेरु के पनाले बह रहे हों। उसे व्याकुल देखकर रीछ वानर दौड़े। वे ज्यों ही निकट आए, त्यों ही वह हँसा,॥4॥
English Translation:
The blood gushing from his dark body looked like streams of red ochre flowing from a mountain of kohl. Perceiving Kumbhkaran to be vulnerable and anxious, the monkey and bear warriors rushed forward. However, the monster laughed loudly as the monkeys drew near.
भावार्थ:
और बड़ा घोर शब्द करके गरजा तथा करोड़-करोड़ वानरों को पकड़कर वह गजराज की तरह उन्हें पृथ्वी पर पटकने लगा और रावण की दुहाई देने लगा॥69॥
English Translation:
Roaring loudly, Kumbhkaran seized millions of monkey warriors in his hands each time and smashed them on the ground like a huge elephant. He swore, “Victory to the ten-headed Ravan.”
भावार्थ:
यह देखकर रीछ-वानरों के झुंड ऐसे भागे जैसे भेड़िये को देखकर भेड़ों के झुंड! (शिवजी कहते हैं-) हे भवानी! वानर-भालू व्याकुल होकर आर्तवाणी से पुकारते हुए भाग चले॥1॥
English Translation:
The bears and monkey troops fled like a flock of sheep at the sight of a wolf. Lord Shiv tells Goddess Parvati, “O’ Bhawani, the monkeys and bears ran for their lives in distress, crying piteously.”
भावार्थ:
(वे कहने लगे-) यह राक्षस दुर्भिक्ष के समान है, जो अब वानर कुल रूपी देश में पड़ना चाहता है। हे कृपा रूपी जल के धारण करने वाले मेघ रूप श्री राम! हे खर के शत्रु! हे शरणागत के दुःख हरने वाले! रक्षा कीजिए, रक्षा कीजिए!॥2॥
English Translation:
…They cried, “This demon is like a famine, determined to devastate the land in the form of the monkey race. Therefore, O’ Enemy of the Khar demon, Shri Ram, O’ Cloud laden with the water of compassion, O’ Reliever of the suppliant’s agony, save us, protect us.”
भावार्थ:
करुणा भरे वचन सुनते ही भगवान् धनुष-बाण सुधारकर चले। महाबलशाली श्री रामजी ने सेना को अपने पीछे कर लिया और वे (अकेले) क्रोधपूर्वक चले (आगे बढ़े)॥3॥
English Translation:
Hearing these pitiful words, the Lord marched forward, stringing His bow and finessing an arrow with His hands. The powerful Lord Ram placed His army behind Him and moved forward in full fury.
भावार्थ:
उन्होंने धनुष को खींचकर सौ बाण संधान किए। बाण छूटे और उसके शरीर में समा गए। बाणों के लगते ही वह क्रोध में भरकर दौड़ा। उसके दौड़ने से पर्वत डगमगाने लगे और पृथ्वी हिलने लगी॥4॥
English Translation:
Pulling the string of His bow, Shri Ram aimed and discharged one hundred arrows that flew and disappeared into the demon’s body. Even as the arrows struck the demon, he rushed forward, full of rage. The Earth trembled and the mountains shook as he ran.
भावार्थ:
उसने एक पर्वत उखाड़ लिया। रघुकुल तिलक श्री रामजी ने उसकी वह भुजा ही काट दी। तब वह बाएँ हाथ में पर्वत को लेकर दौड़ा। प्रभु ने उसकी वह भुजा भी काटकर पृथ्वी पर गिरा दी॥5॥
English Translation:
Kumbhkaran then uprooted a large mountain, but the glory of the Raghu clan, Shri Ram, cut off his arms that carried it. The demon then took a mountain in his left hand, but the Lord struck that arm down to the ground as well.
भावार्थ:
भुजाओं के कट जाने पर वह दुष्ट कैसी शोभा पाने लगा, जैसे बिना पंख का मंदराचल पहाड़ हो। उसने उग्र दृष्टि से प्रभु को देखा। मानो तीनों लोकों को निगल जाना चाहता हो॥6॥
English Translation:
With his arms chopped off, the wretched demon looked like the Mandrachal mountain without its wings. He cast a fierce look at the Lord, as if he was ready to devour all the three spheres (Earth, Heaven and the Subterranean region).
भावार्थ:
वह बड़े जोर से चिग्घाड़ करके मुँह फैलाकर दौड़ा। आकाश में सिद्ध और देवता डरकर हा! हा! हा! इस प्रकार पुकारने लगे॥70॥
English Translation:
Kumbhkaran roared loudly and charged towards Shri Ram with his mouth wide open. The Demigods and Siddhas, who were watching the battle from the sky, were terrified and began shouting in fear.
भावार्थ:
करुणानिधान भगवान् ने देवताओं को भयभीत जाना। तब उन्होंने धनुष को कान तक तानकर राक्षस के मुख को बाणों के समूह से भर दिया। तो भी वह महाबली पृथ्वी पर न गिरा॥1॥
English Translation:
When the ocean of mercy, Shri Ram, realized that the Demigods were afraid, he drew the string of his bow up to His ear and pierced the demon’s mouth with the flight of a terrifying cluster of arrows. Yet, the extremely brave Kumbhkaran did not fall to the ground.
भावार्थ:
मुख में बाण भरे हुए वह (प्रभु के) सामने दौड़ा। मानो काल रूपी सजीव तरकस ही आ रहा हो। तब प्रभु ने क्रोध करके तीक्ष्ण बाण लिया और उसके सिर को धड़ से अलग कर दिया॥2॥
English Translation:
With his mouth filled with arrows, Kumbhkaran charged forward, resembling a living quiver of Death himself. Angrily, the Lord then took a formidable arrow and separated Kumbhkaran’s head from his body.
भावार्थ:
वह सिर रावण के आगे जा गिरा उसे देखकर रावण ऐसा व्याकुल हुआ जैसे मणि के छूट जाने पर सर्प। कुंभकर्ण का प्रचण्ड धड़ दौड़ा, जिससे पृथ्वी धँसी जाती थी। तब प्रभु ने काटकर उसके दो टुकड़े कर दिए॥3॥
English Translation:
The head flew and dropped in front of the ten-headed Ravan. Seeing his brother’s head, Ravan was filled with agony, just like a snake that had lost its crest jewel. The Earth was sinking under the weight of Kumbhkaran’s terrible body as it sprinted forward. Thereupon, the Lord cut it into two pieces with another arrow.
भावार्थ:
वानर-भालू और निशाचरों को अपने नीचे दबाते हुए वे दोनों टुकड़े पृथ्वी पर ऐसे पड़े जैसे आकाश से दो पहाड़ गिरे हों। उसका तेज प्रभु श्री रामचंद्रजी के मुख में समा गया। (यह देखकर) देवता और मुनि सभी ने आश्चर्य माना॥4॥
English Translation:
The two pieces of Kumbhkaran’s body fell to the ground as if two huge mountains had fallen from the sky, crushing monkeys, bears, and demons beneath them. The glow of Kumbhkaran’s subtle body entered the Lord’s mouth (thereby ending the cycle of birth and death for Kumbhkaran). All the Demigods and Sages were astonished to see this (act of benevolence by the Lord towards a demon).
भावार्थ:
देवता नगाड़े बजाते, हर्षित होते और स्तुति करते हुए बहुत से फूल बरसा रहे हैं। विनती करके सब देवता चले गए। उसी समय देवर्षि नारद आए॥5॥
English Translation:
The Demigods rejoiced, sounded kettledrums, showered flowers from the sky, and extolled the Lord. Having prayed to the Lord, all the Demigods departed. At that very moment, the celestial Sage Narad arrived.
भावार्थ:
आकाश के ऊपर से उन्होंने श्री हरि के सुंदर वीर रसयुक्त गुण समूह का गान किया, जो प्रभु के मन को बहुत ही भाया। मुनि यह कहकर चले गए कि अब दुष्ट रावण को शीघ्र मारिए। (उस समय) श्री रामचंद्रजी रणभूमि में आकर (अत्यंत) सुशोभित हुए॥6॥
English Translation:
Standing in mid-air, Narad ji sang the virtues of Lord Hari (Shri Ram). Lord Ram was pleased in His heart to hear the beautiful warrior essence in which Narad ji had described Him (Shri Ram). After concluding his song, Narad ji said, “Now quickly kill the wretched Ravan,” and then departed. Shri Ram then gloriously shone forth on the battlefield.
भावार्थ:
अतुलनीय बल वाले कोसलपति श्री रघुनाथजी रणभूमि में सुशोभित हैं। मुख पर पसीने की बूँदें हैं, कमल समान नेत्र कुछ लाल हो रहे हैं। शरीर पर रक्त के कण हैं, दोनों हाथों से धनुष-बाण फिरा रहे हैं। चारों ओर रीछ-वानर सुशोभित हैं। तुलसीदासजी कहते हैं कि प्रभु की इस छबि का वर्णन शेषजी भी नहीं कर सकते, जिनके बहुत से (हजार) मुख हैं।
English Translation:
Shri Raghupati, the Lord of the Koshal Kingdom, who is extremely brave, was resplendent on the battlefield. Drops of sweat adorned His charming face, His lotus eyes were somewhat red, and specks of blood dotted His body. With both hands, Lord Ram playfully caressed His bow and arrow, surrounded by monkeys and bears. Tulsidas ji says that even Shesha ji, the Lord of Serpents with a thousand mouths, cannot adequately express the beauty of the Lord as seen on the battlefield.
भावार्थ:
(शिवजी कहते हैं-) हे गिरिजे! कुंभकर्ण, जो नीच राक्षस और पाप की खान था, उसे भी श्री रामजी ने अपना परमधाम दे दिया। अतः वे मनुष्य (निश्चय ही) मंदबुद्धि हैं, जो उन श्री रामजी को नहीं भजते॥71॥
English Translation:
Lord Shiv said to Goddess Parvati, “O Girija, the demon was vile and full of bad qualities, yet Lord Ram gave him a place in His divine abode. Those men are truly dull-witted who do not worship Shri Ram.”
भावार्थ:
दिन का अन्त होने पर दोनों सेनाएँ लौट पड़ीं। (आज के युद्ध में) योद्धाओं को बड़ी थकावट हुई, परन्तु श्री रामजी की कृपा से वानर सेना का बल उसी प्रकार बढ़ गया, जैसे घास पाकर अग्नि बहुत बढ़ जाती है॥1॥
English Translation:
At the end of the day, both armies returned to their respective camps. Today’s battle had proven extremely strenuous for the brave fighters. However, by the grace of Shri Ram, the monkey army grew stronger, like a fire blazing up when fed with straw.
भावार्थ:
उधर राक्षस दिन-रात इस प्रकार घटते जा रहे हैं, जिस प्रकार अपने ही मुख से कहने पर पुण्य घट जाते हैं। रावण बहुत विलाप कर रहा है। बार-बार भाई (कुंभकर्ण) का सिर कलेजे से लगाता है॥2॥
English Translation:
The demon troops were decreasing every day, just like a person’s merit exhausts when he speaks of his good deeds with his own mouth. The ten-headed Ravan grieved deeply holding his brother’s head and clasping it repeatedly to his chest.
भावार्थ:
स्त्रियाँ उसके बड़े भारी तेज और बल को बखान करके हाथों से छाती पीट-पीटकर रो रही हैं। उसी समय मेघनाद आया और उसने बहुत सी कथाएँ कहकर पिता को समझाया॥3॥
English Translation:
Women in the palace wept and beat their chests with their hands. They praised Kumbhkaran’s extraordinary valour and immense strength. At that moment, Ravan’s son, Meghnad, arrived and consoled his father by recounting many legends.
