भावार्थ:
बीच-बीच में सुंदर मुकाम करती हुई तथा मार्ग के लोगों को सुख देती हुई वह बारात पवित्र दिन में अयोध्यापुरी के समीप आ पहुँची॥343॥
English Translation:
Taking many delightful pauses during the journey and bringing joy to people along the way, the marriage procession arrived near Ayodhya on an auspicious day.
भावार्थ:
नगाड़ों पर चोटें पड़ने लगीं, सुंदर ढोल बजने लगे। भेरी और शंख की बड़ी आवाज हो रही है, हाथी-घोड़े गरज रहे हैं। विशेष शब्द करने वाली झाँझें, सुहावनी डफलियाँ तथा रसीले राग से शहनाइयाँ बज रही हैं॥1॥
English Translation:
Kettledrums began to thunder, while elegant tabors played in harmony with the resounding calls of bugles and conch shells, joined by the neighing of horses and trumpeting of elephants. Cymbals, drums, and tambourines added to the joyous music, as clarinets filled the air with sweet melodies.
भावार्थ:
बारात को आती हुई सुनकर नगर निवासी प्रसन्न हो गए। सबके शरीरों पर पुलकावली छा गई। सबने अपने-अपने सुंदर घरों, बाजारों, गलियों, चौराहों और नगर के द्वारों को सजाया॥2॥
English Translation:
Hearing of the approaching marriage procession, the citizens of Ayodhya were filled with joy, and a thrill ran through their bodies. They decorated their splendid homes, along with the marketplaces, roads, intersections, and the grand entrance gates of the city.
भावार्थ:
सारी गलियाँ अरगजे से सिंचाई गईं, जहाँ-तहाँ सुंदर चौक पुराए गए। तोरणों ध्वजा-पताकाओं और मंडपों से बाजार ऐसा सजा कि जिसका वर्णन नहीं किया जा सकता॥3॥
English Translation:
All the alleys were perfumed with fragrant sprays, and every courtyard and town square was beautifully adorned. The marketplace was decorated with vibrant hangings, banners, flags, and canopies.
भावार्थ:
फल सहित सुपारी, केला, आम, मौलसिरी, कदम्ब और तमाल के वृक्ष लगाए गए। वे लगे हुए सुंदर वृक्ष (फलों के भार से) पृथ्वी को छू रहे हैं। उनके मणियों के थाले बड़ी सुंदर कारीगरी से बनाए गए हैं॥4॥
English Translation:
Rows of trees bearing fruits of betel nut, banana, mango, malsiri (Indian Medlar tree), and bay leaf were planted, their heavy, flower and fruit-laden branches bending low to touch the ground. The pits dug to plant these trees were artfully lined with precious gems.
भावार्थ:
अनेक प्रकार के मंगल-कलश घर-घर सजाकर बनाए गए हैं। श्री रघुनाथजी की पुरी (अयोध्या) को देखकर ब्रह्मा आदि सब देवता सिहाते हैं॥344॥
English Translation:
Various kinds of decorative and auspicious urns were crafted and placed in every home across Ayodhya. Even the Demigods, including Brahma ji, looked upon the splendour of Shri Raghuveer’s city with envy.
भावार्थ:
उस समय राजमहल (अत्यन्त) शोभित हो रहा था। उसकी रचना देखकर कामदेव भी मन मोहित हो जाता था। मंगल शकुन, मनोहरता, ऋद्धि-सिद्धि, सुख, सुहावनी सम्पत्ति॥1॥
English Translation:
Beholding the grand decoration of King Dashrath’s palace on this occasion, even Kaamdev (Cupid) himself stood enchanted. All signs of auspiciousness, good omens, beauty, prosperity, success, joy, and delightful riches appeared to have gathered there at once.
भावार्थ:
और सब प्रकार के उत्साह (आनंद) मानो सहज सुंदर शरीर धर-धरकर दशरथजी के घर में छा गए हैं। श्री रामचन्द्रजी और सीताजी के दर्शनों के लिए भला कहिए, किसे लालसा न होगी॥2॥
English Translation:
As if every form of happiness had taken on a naturally beautiful shape and made its home in Dashrath ji’s palace. Tulsidas ji says, “Tell me, who would not yearn to witness the divine sight of Shri Ram and Videhi ji?”
भावार्थ:
सुहागिनी स्त्रियाँ झुंड की झुंड मिलकर चलीं, जो अपनी छबि से कामदेव की स्त्री रति का भी निरादर कर रही हैं। सभी सुंदर मंगलद्रव्य एवं आरती सजाए हुए गा रही हैं, मानो सरस्वतीजी ही बहुत से वेष धारण किए गा रही हों॥3॥
English Translation:
Groups upon groups of married women walked together to catch a glimpse of Shri Ram and Sita ji. Their beauty was such that even the enchanting Rati, wife of Kaamdev, would seem pale in comparison. Each carried beautifully adorned plates for the Aarti and sang melodious festive songs, it seemed as though Goddess Saraswati Herself was singing through countless voices.
भावार्थ:
राजमहल में (आनंद के मारे) शोर मच रहा है। उस समय का और सुख का वर्णन नहीं किया जा सकता। कौसल्याजी आदि श्री रामचन्द्रजी की सब माताएँ प्रेम के विशेष वश होने से शरीर की सुध भूल गईं॥4॥
English Translation:
There was a wave of excitement and joyous commotion outside the King’s palace. The moment and its bliss were beyond description. Lord Ram’s mother, Kaushalya ji, along with the other Queens (Sumitra ji and Kaikeyi ji), were so deeply absorbed in love that they became completely unaware of their own bodies.
भावार्थ:
गणेशजी और त्रिपुरारि शिवजी का पूजन करके उन्होंने ब्राह्मणों को बहुत सा दान दिया। वे ऐसी परम प्रसन्न हुईं, मानो अत्यन्त दरिद्री चारों पदार्थ पा गया हो॥345॥
English Translation:
After offering worship to Lord Ganesh and Lord Shiv, they gave generous donations to the Brahmins. The mothers were filled with immense joy, as if a poor soul had suddenly been blessed with the four supreme goals of human life (wealth, righteousness, pleasure, and liberation).
भावार्थ:
सुख और महान आनंद से विवश होने के कारण सब माताओं के शरीर शिथिल हो गए हैं, उनके चरण चलते नहीं हैं। श्री रामचन्द्रजी के दर्शनों के लिए वे अत्यन्त अनुराग में भरकर परछन का सब सामान सजाने लगीं॥1॥
English Translation:
All the mothers were overwhelmed with joy and deep contentment. Their feet felt rooted, and their limbs turned motionless, like lifeless statues. Overflowing with love and anticipation to behold Shri Ram, they began adorning the items for His Aarti with great devotion.
भावार्थ:
अनेकों प्रकार के बाजे बजते थे। सुमित्राजी ने आनंदपूर्वक मंगल साज सजाए। हल्दी, दूब, दही, पत्ते, फूल, पान और सुपारी आदि मंगल की मूल वस्तुएँ,॥2॥

Many kinds of musical instruments were playing in joyful harmony. Mother Sumitra lovingly prepared an array of auspicious items: turmeric, blades of durva grass, curd, leaves, flowers, betel leaves with betel nut,…
भावार्थ:
अतः अक्षत (चावल), अंकुरित जौ, पीला खुशबूदार तिलक लगाने वाला चूर्ण, फूली हुई पोड़ी हुई चावल और कोमल तुलसी की मंजरियाँ सुशोभित हैं। नाना रंगों से चित्रित सुंदर स्वर्ण कलश ऐसे प्रतीत होते हैं जैसे कामदेव के पक्षियों ने घोंसले बनाए हों॥3॥
English Translation:
Whole rice grains, barley sprouts, yellow fragrant powder for applying tilak on Shri Ram’s forehead, puffed rice, and delicate Tulsi blossoms adorned the scene. Beautiful golden vessels, painted in vibrant colors, were arranged, each looking like a nest crafted by the birds of Kaamdev himself.
भावार्थ:
शकुन की सुगंधित वस्तुएँ वर्णन से बाहर हैं। सभी रानियाँ सम्पूर्ण मंगल साज-सज्जा कर रही हैं। वे कई प्रकार की आरती बनाकर आनंदित होकर सुंदर मंगल गीत गा रही हैं॥4॥
English Translation:
The enchanting fragrance of the auspicious items was beyond description. In this manner, all the Queens lovingly prepared a wide variety of sacred offerings. They arranged the Aartis in many beautiful ways and joyfully sang melodious festive songs.
भावार्थ:
सोने के थालों को मांगलिक वस्तुओं से भरकर, अपने कमल के समान कोमल हाथों में लिए हुए माताएँ आनंदित होकर अपने पुत्रों की रक्षा के लिए परछनि (परिक्रमा) करने चलीं। उनके शरीर पर उत्तेजना और आनंद के कारण पुलक-सी उमंग छा गई है॥346॥
English Translation:
With their lotus-like hands and bodies brimming with joyous excitement, the mothers carried golden platters filled with auspicious items to perform Aarti around their sons, examining their overall health and well-being, and warding off any evil.
भावार्थ:
धूप की धुंआ से आकाश ऐसा काला हो गया जैसे सावन के बादल घिर आए हों। देवता कल्पवृक्ष के फूलों की माला बरसा रहे हैं। वे ऐसा प्रतीत हो रहा है जैसे बगुले की टोली मन को अपनी ओर खींच रही हो॥1॥
English Translation:
The sky darkened with the fragrant smoke of incense, resembling Monsoon clouds gathering overhead. Meanwhile, the Demigods showered garlands made from the blossoms of the celestial wish-fulfilling tree, it appeared as though flocks of herons were drawing the hearts of onlookers towards them.
भावार्थ:
सुंदर रत्नों से बने बंदनवार ऐसे लग रहे हैं जैसे इंद्रधनुष हों। छज्जों पर सुंदर और चपल स्त्रियाँ प्रकट होती और गायब होती हैं, वे ऐसे चमकती हैं जैसे बिजली चमक रही हो॥2॥
English Translation:
Exquisite jewel-studded festoons hung like splendidly adorned rainbows, while graceful, playful women appeared briefly on the terraces before vanishing again, just like flashes of shimmering lightning.
भावार्थ:
नगाड़ों की आवाज़ घने बादलों की गर्जना जैसी है। याचक के रूप में चातक, मेंढक और मोर हैं। देवता पवित्र और सुगंधित जल बरसा रहे हैं जिससे नगर के सभी पुरुष-स्त्रियाँ सुखी हो रहे हैं॥3॥
English Translation:
The roar of kettledrums echoed like the thunder of storm clouds, while the clamour of those seeking alms resembled the calls of papaya birds, frogs, and peacocks at the sight of rain-laden skies. The Demigods showered pure, fragrant rain from above, bringing joy to the flourishing crops, symbolized by the delighted men and women of Ayodhya.
भावार्थ:
शुभ समय जानकर गुरु वशिष्ठजी ने आदेश दिया। तब रघुकुल मणि राजा दशरथ ने शिव, पार्वती और गणेश का स्मरण करते हुए अपने समाज सहित आनंदित होकर नगर में प्रवेश किया॥4॥
English Translation:
Recognizing the auspicious time, Guru Vashishth gave the command, and the jewel of the Raghu lineage, King Dashrath, joyfully entered the city with his entourage, his mind firmly fixed on Lord Shambhu, Goddess Girija, and Ganesh ji, the Chief of Lord Shiv’s attendants.
भावार्थ:
शकुन हो रहे हैं, देवता फूल बरसा रहे हैं और दुंदुभी बजा रहे हैं। देवताओं की स्त्रियाँ खुशी से नाचकर मंगल गीत गा रही हैं॥347॥
English Translation:
Auspicious signs filled the air as the Demigods showered flowers to the rhythm of kettledrums, while celestial damsels danced with joy and sang sweet, sacred melodies.
भावार्थ:
मागध, सूत, भाट और नट तीनों लोकों के उजागर श्री रामचन्द्रजी का यश गा रहे हैं। जय की ध्वनि और वेदों की शुद्ध वाणी सुंदर मंगल से सजी दसों दिशाओं में सुनाई दे रही है॥1॥
English Translation:
Bards, storytellers, singers, and learned performers sang the praises of Shri Ram, the radiant light of the three worlds (Earth, Heaven, and the Subterranean realm). All ten directions echoed with sacred Vedic hymns and joyous cries of victory.
भावार्थ:
बहुत से बाजे बजने लगे। आकाश के देवता और नगर के लोग प्रेम में मग्न हैं। बारात का वर्णन नहीं किया जा सकता, वे परम आनंदित हैं और उनका मन सुख से भर गया है॥2॥
English Translation:
A multitude of musical instruments began to play, delighting the Demigods in the Heavens and the people in the city below. Words fall short in describing the splendour of those in the wedding procession, adorned in lavish attires and ornaments, with their hearts overflowing with boundless joy and celebration.
भावार्थ:
अयोध्यावासियों ने राजा को जोहार किया। श्री रामचन्द्रजी को देखकर वे सुखी हुए। सभी मणियाँ और वस्त्र निछावर कर रहे हैं। नेत्र प्रेमाश्रुओं से भर गए हैं और शरीर पुलकित है॥3॥
English Translation:
The citizens of Ayodhya bowed respectfully to King Dashrath and rejoiced at the sight of Shri Ram. To ward off the evil eye, they reverently waved jewels and garments around Him, then gave them away to the needy. Tears of joy flowed from their eyes, and their bodies trembled with bliss.
भावार्थ:
नगर की स्त्रियाँ आनंदित होकर आरती कर रही हैं और सुंदर चारों कुमारों को देखकर हर्षित हो रही हैं। पालकियों के सुंदर परदे हटा-हटाकर वे दुलहिनों को देखकर सुखी होती हैं॥4॥
English Translation:
The women of Ayodhya joyfully performed Aarti, their hearts filled with delight at the sight of the four handsome Princes. Lifting the delicate curtains of the ornate palanquins, they gazed upon the Brides and felt deeply content.
भावार्थ:
इस प्रकार सबको सुख देते हुए राजद्वार पर आए। माताएँ आनंदित होकर बहुओं सहित कुमारों का परछन कर रही हैं॥348॥
English Translation:
In this manner, filling every heart with joy, they reached the entrance of the royal palace. There, the mothers lovingly performed Aarti for the Princes and their Brides.
भावार्थ:
वे बार-बार आरती कर रही हैं। उस प्रेम और महान आनंद को कौन कह सकता है! अनेकों प्रकार के आभूषण, रत्न और वस्त्र तथा अगणित प्रकार की अन्य वस्तुएँ निछावर कर रही हैं॥1॥
English Translation:
Who could possibly express the depth of their love and supreme joy? To ward off the evil eye, they waved various ornaments, jewels, garments, and countless other items around the Sons and Daughters-in-law, then offered them in charity to the needy.
भावार्थ:
बहुओं सहित चारों पुत्रों को देखकर माताएँ परमानंद में मग्न हो गईं। सीताजी और श्री रामजी की छबि को बार-बार देखकर वे जगत में अपने जीवन को सफल मानकर आनंदित हो रही हैं॥2॥
English Translation:
Seeing their four Sons with their respective wives, the mothers were overwhelmed with joy and immersed in deep affection. Their eyes lingered again and again on the divine beauty of Shri Ram and Sita ji, their hearts brimming with bliss, feeling as though the purpose of their lives had been fulfilled.
भावार्थ:
सखियाँ सीताजी के मुख को बार-बार देखकर अपने पुण्यों की सराहना करती हुई गान कर रही हैं। देवता क्षण-क्षण में फूल बरसाते, नाचते, गाते तथा अपनी-अपनी सेवा समर्पण करते हैं॥3॥
English Translation:
The Queen’s female companions sang joyous songs and praised their good fortune as they gazed upon Sita ji’s radiant face again and again. At every moment, the Demigods showered flowers, danced, sang, and offered their homage and devoted service.
भावार्थ:
चारों मनोहर जोड़ियों को देखकर सरस्वती ने सारी उपमाओं को खोज डाला, पर कोई उपमा देते नहीं बनी, क्योंकि उन्हें सभी बिलकुल तुच्छ जान पड़ीं। तब हारकर वे भी श्री रामजी के रूप में अनुरक्त होकर एकटक देखती रह गईं॥4॥
English Translation:
Beholding the four charming couples, Goddess Saraswati searched for every possible simile, but all seemed utterly inferior. Enamoured by their beauty, she stood motionless, her gaze fixed in unblinking admiration.
भावार्थ:
वेद की विधि और कुल की रीति करके अर्घ्य-पाँवड़े देती हुई बहुओं समेत सब पुत्रों को परछन करके माताएँ महल में लिवा चलीं॥349॥
English Translation:
After performing the Vedic rites and family traditions, the Mothers waved Aarti to ward off the evil eye, sprinkled holy water infused with auspicious elements, and lovingly checked the overall health and well-being of all the Sons and their Brides. With grace and devotion, they led them toward the palace, as carpets were ceremoniously rolled out along their path.
भावार्थ:
स्वाभाविक ही सुंदर चार सिंहासन थे, जो मानो कामदेव ने ही अपने हाथ से बनाए थे। उन पर माताओं ने राजकुमारियों और राजकुमारों को बैठाया और आदर के साथ उनके पवित्र चरण धोए॥1॥
English Translation:
There stood four naturally exquisite thrones, as if crafted by Kaamdev himself. The Mothers gently seated the Princes and Princesses upon them and reverently washed their pious feet.
भावार्थ:
फिर वेद की विधि के अनुसार मंगल के निधान दूलह की दुलहिनों की धूप, दीप और नैवेद्य आदि के द्वारा पूजा की। माताएँ बारम्बार आरती कर रही हैं और वर-वधुओं के सिरों पर सुंदर पंखे तथा चँवर ढल रहे हैं॥2॥
English Translation:
The four divine couples, embodiments of all auspiciousness, were worshipped with incense, lamps, and offerings of food and water in accordance with Vedic rituals. The Mothers performed their Aarti again and again, while beautiful fans and chowries were gracefully waved over their heads.
भावार्थ:
अनेकों वस्तुएँ निछावर हो रही हैं, सभी माताएँ आनंद से भरी हुई ऐसी सुशोभित हो रही हैं मानो योगी ने परम तत्व को प्राप्त कर लिया। सदा के रोगी ने मानो अमृत पा लिया॥3॥
English Translation:
Many sacred items were ceremoniously waved around them and then offered to alms seekers. All the Mothers were filled with supreme contentment, like a realized yogi who has attained the ultimate truth, or a lifelong sufferer who has discovered the nectar of life.
भावार्थ:
जन्म का दरिद्री मानो पारस पा गया। अंधे को सुंदर नेत्रों का लाभ हुआ। गूँगे के मुख में मानो सरस्वती आ विराजीं और शूरवीर ने मानो युद्ध में विजय पा ली॥4॥
English Translation:
Or as if a pauper by birth had discovered the fabled Paras stone (that turns iron into gold), or a blind man had gained vision, or a mute had been blessed with the eloquence of Goddess Saraswati, or as if a valiant warrior had triumphed gloriously on the battlefield.
भावार्थ:
इन सुखों से भी सौ करोड़ गुना बढ़कर आनंद माताएँ पा रही हैं, क्योंकि रघुकुल के चंद्रमा श्री रामजी विवाह कर के भाइयों सहित घर आए हैं॥350 (क)॥
English Translation:
The Mothers were experiencing joy a million times greater than all the examples described above, for the Moon of the Raghu clan, Shri Ram, along with His Brothers, had returned home after their divine weddings.
भावार्थ:
माताएँ लोकरीति करती हैं और दूलह-दुलहिनें सकुचाते हैं। इस महान आनंद और विनोद को देखकर श्री रामचन्द्रजी मन ही मन मुस्कुरा रहे हैं॥350 (ख)॥
English Translation:
As the Mothers carried out various traditional rites, the Grooms and their Brides blushed with shyness. Witnessing the joyful celebrations all around, Lord Ram smiled softly within His heart.
भावार्थ:
मन की सभी वासनाएँ पूरी हुई जानकर देवता और पितरों का भलीभाँति पूजन किया। सबकी वंदना करके माताएँ यही वरदान माँगती हैं कि भाइयों सहित श्री रामजी का कल्याण हो॥1॥
English Translation:
Finding all their heart’s desires fulfilled, the Mothers offered respectful homage to the Demigods and ancestors. With deep reverence, they worshipped them and prayed for a divine boon, that Shri Ram and His Brothers remain forever blessed in every way.
भावार्थ:
देवता छिपे हुए (अन्तरिक्ष से) आशीर्वाद दे रहे हैं और माताएँ आनन्दित हो आँचल भरकर ले रही हैं। तदनन्तर राजा ने बारातियों को बुलवा लिया और उन्हें सवारियाँ, वस्त्र, मणि (रत्न) और आभूषणादि दिए॥2॥
English Translation:
From their unseen heavenly abode, the Demigods showered blessings upon them, and the Mothers joyfully received these blessings by spreading the ends of their sarees. Meanwhile, King Dashrath summoned the marriage party and graciously presented them with vehicles (carts, chariots, carriages), clothes, jewels, and ornaments.
भावार्थ:
आज्ञा पाकर, श्री रामजी को हृदय में रखकर वे सब आनंदित होकर अपने-अपने घर गए। नगर के समस्त स्त्री-पुरुषों को राजा ने कपड़े और गहने पहनाए। घर-घर बधावे बजने लगे॥3॥
English Translation:
With the King’s permission and Lord Ram’s divine image enshrined in their hearts, they all joyfully returned to their homes. The King adorned the men and women of Ayodhya with fine garments and jewellery, and every household came alive with music and jubilant celebrations.
भावार्थ:
याचक लोग जो-जो माँगते हैं, विशेष प्रसन्न होकर राजा उन्हें वही-वही देते हैं। सम्पूर्ण सेवकों और बाजे वालों को राजा ने नाना प्रकार के दान और सम्मान से सन्तुष्ट किया॥4॥
English Translation:
Whatever the alms seekers requested, the King gladly bestowed upon them. He generously rewarded all the attendants, musicians, and performers with abundant gifts and heartfelt honour.
भावार्थ:
सब जोहार (वंदन) करके आशीष देते हैं और गुण समूहों की कथा गाते हैं। तब गुरु और ब्राह्मणों सहित राजा दशरथजी ने महल में गमन किया॥351॥
English Translation:
Joyful chants of victory echoed as blessings were invoked and praises sung for the countless virtues of King Dashrath. Thereafter, the King, accompanied by Guru Vashishth and other Brahmins, made his way to the palace.
भावार्थ:
वशिष्ठजी ने जो आज्ञा दी, उसे लोक और वेद की विधि के अनुसार राजा ने आदरपूर्वक किया। ब्राह्मणों की भीड़ देखकर अपना बड़ा भाग्य जानकर सब रानियाँ आदर के साथ उठीं॥1॥
English Translation:
Whatever instructions Guru Vashishth gave, the King carried them out with utmost respect, in full accordance with the Vedas and local traditions. When the Queens beheld the gathering of Brahmins, they all rose at once to welcome them, feeling deeply blessed and fortunate to serve and receive their gracious presence.
भावार्थ:
चरण धोकर उन्होंने सबको स्नान कराया और राजा ने भली-भाँति पूजन करके उन्हें भोजन कराया! आदर, दान और प्रेम से पुष्ट हुए वे संतुष्ट मन से आशीर्वाद देते हुए चले॥2॥
English Translation:
They washed the feet of the Brahmins and arranged for their baths. Thereafter, the King respectfully worshipped them and served them a grand meal. The Brahmins, deeply satisfied by the honour, gifts, and heartfelt devotion, departed with gratitude, showering blessings upon the King and Queens as they took their leave.
भावार्थ:
राजा ने गाधि पुत्र विश्वामित्रजी की बहुत तरह से पूजा की और कहा- हे नाथ! मेरे समान धन्य दूसरा कोई नहीं है। राजा ने उनकी बहुत प्रशंसा की और रानियों सहित उनकी चरणधूलि को ग्रहण किया॥3॥
English Translation:
The King then offered reverent worship to the son of Sage Gadhi, the great Vishwamitra ji, in many ways. With folded hands, he said, “O’ Lord, none is as fortunate as I am.” He praised the Sage with heartfelt devotion, and together with his Queens, humbly took the sacred dust of the Sage’s feet.
भावार्थ:
उन्हें महल के भीतर ठहरने को उत्तम स्थान दिया, जिसमें राजा और सब रनिवाँ उनका मन जोहता रहे (अर्थात जिसमें राजा और महल की सारी रानियाँ स्वयं उनकी इच्छानुसार उनके आराम की ओर दृष्टि रख सकें)। फिर राजा ने गुरु वशिष्ठजी के चरणकमलों की पूजा और विनती की। उनके हृदय में कम प्रीति न थी (अर्थात बहुत प्रीति थी)॥4॥
English Translation:
The King designated a royal guest chamber within his own palace for Sage Vishwamitra, ensuring that every need; great or small, would be personally attended to by the King and his Queens. He then once again worshipped the feet of Guru Vashishth and, with deep affection in his heart, offered his humble supplications to him.
भावार्थ:
बहुओं सहित सब राजकुमार और सब रानियों समेत राजा बार-बार गुरुजी के चरणों की वंदना करते हैं और मुनीश्वर आशीर्वाद देते हैं॥352॥
English Translation:
All the Brides, alongside their respective Princes, and the Queens with the King, reverently bowed again and again at Guru Vashishth’s feet, as the noble Sage bestowed his blessings upon them all.
भावार्थ:
राजा ने अत्यन्त प्रेमपूर्ण हृदय से पुत्रों को और सारी सम्पत्ति को सामने रखकर (उन्हें स्वीकार करने के लिए) विनती की, परन्तु मुनिराज ने (पुरोहित के नाते) केवल अपना नेग माँग लिया और बहुत तरह से आशीर्वाद दिया॥1॥
English Translation:
The King offered heartfelt and humble prayers to the Sage, placing his Sons and all his wealth at the Sage’s feet. But the Chief of Sages accepted only the customary offerings due to him as the family priest, and in return, showered the King with abundant blessings.
भावार्थ:
फिर सीताजी सहित श्री रामचन्द्रजी को हृदय में रखकर गुरु वशिष्ठजी हर्षित होकर अपने स्थान को गए। राजा ने सब ब्राह्मणों की स्त्रियों को बुलवाया और उन्हें सुंदर वस्त्र तथा आभूषण पहनाए॥2॥
English Translation:
With the divine image of Shri Ram and Sita ji enshrined in his heart, Guru Vashishth returned to his home with great joy. The King then summoned the wives of the Brahmins and graciously gifted them beautiful clothes and ornaments.
भावार्थ:
फिर अब सुआसिनियों को (नगर की सौभाग्यवती बहिन, बेटी, भानजी आदि को) बुलवा लिया और उनकी रुचि समझकर (उसी के अनुसार) उन्हें पहिरावनी दी। नेगी लोग सब अपना-अपना नेग-जोग लेते और राजाओं के शिरोमणि दशरथजी उनकी इच्छा के अनुसार देते हैं॥3॥
English Translation:
Next, he invited the married women of the city and gifted them garments of their choice. Then Dashrath ji, the crown jewel among Kings, generously distributed gifts to those traditionally offered donations during ceremonial occasions, fulfilling their heartfelt wishes.
भावार्थ:
जिन मेहमानों को प्रिय और पूजनीय जाना, उनका राजा ने भलीभाँति सम्मान किया। देवगण श्री रघुनाथजी का विवाह देखकर, उत्सव की प्रशंसा करके फूल बरसाते हुए-॥4॥
English Translation:
The honoured guests, beloved and respected by the King, were shown every courtesy and treated with the utmost regard. Meanwhile, the Demigods who had witnessed Lord Ram’s wedding showered divine flowers from the Heavens, joyfully applauding the magnificent celebration.
भावार्थ:
नगाड़े बजाकर और (परम) सुख प्राप्त कर अपने-अपने लोकों को चले। वे एक-दूसरे से श्री रामजी का यश कहते जाते हैं। हृदय में प्रेम समाता नहीं है॥353॥
English Translation:
With hearts overflowing with love and voices filled with praise for Lord Ram’s glories, the Demigods departed joyfully to their respective abodes, beating kettledrums in celebration, having experienced the pinnacle of divine joy.
भावार्थ:
सब प्रकार से सबका प्रेमपूर्वक भली-भाँति आदर-सत्कार कर लेने पर राजा दशरथजी के हृदय में पूर्ण उत्साह (आनंद) भर गया। जहाँ रनिवास था, वे वहाँ पधारे और बहुओं समेत उन्होंने कुमारों को देखा॥1॥
English Translation:
Dashrath ji, the beloved King of the people, extended honour to everyone in every possible way. His heart overflowing with joy, he entered the Queens’ palace and beheld his Daughters-in-law seated with their respective Princes.
भावार्थ:
राजा ने आनंद सहित पुत्रों को गोद में ले लिया। उस समय राजा को जितना सुख हुआ उसे कौन कह सकता है? फिर पुत्रवधुओं को प्रेम सहित गोदी में बैठाकर, बार-बार हृदय में हर्षित होकर उन्होंने उनका दुलार (लाड़-चाव) किया॥2॥
English Translation:
He lovingly took the Princes into his lap, overwhelmed with joy beyond words. With his heart brimming with love, he then seated the Princess Brides on his lap as well, showering them all with paternal affection again and again.
भावार्थ:
यह समाज (समारोह) देखकर रनिवास प्रसन्न हो गया। सबके हृदय में आनंद ने निवास कर लिया। तब राजा ने जिस तरह विवाह हुआ था, वह सब कहा। उसे सुन-सुनकर सब किसी को हर्ष होता है॥3॥
English Translation:
Witnessing this heartfelt scene, the entire gathering in the Queens’ palace was filled with joy and elation. The King then recounted the events of the wedding, and with each detail he shared, the listeners’ hearts lit up with delight.
भावार्थ:
राजा जनक के गुण, शील, महत्व, प्रीति की रीति और सुहावनी सम्पत्ति का वर्णन राजा ने भाट की तरह बहुत प्रकार से किया। जनकजी की करनी सुनकर सब रानियाँ बहुत प्रसन्न हुईं॥4॥
English Translation:
Like a true bard, Dashrath ji praised the countless virtues of King Janak, his humility, fame, affection, nobility, and grandeur. The Queens were filled with joy as they listened to the noble deeds and character of King Janak.
भावार्थ:
पुत्रों सहित स्नान करके राजा ने ब्राह्मण, गुरु और कुटुम्बियों को बुलाकर अनेक प्रकार के भोजन किए। (यह सब करते-करते) पाँच घड़ी रात बीत गई॥354॥
English Translation:
After bathing with his Sons, the King invited the Brahmins, Guru Vashishth, Guru Vishwamitra and his relatives for a grand dinner. They enjoyed a variety of delicious dishes, and in the midst of the joyful gathering, two hours of the night slipped by.
भावार्थ:
सुंदर वेशभूषा वाली स्त्रियाँ मंगल गीत गा रही थीं, जिससे वह रात सुख और मनोहरता का मूल बन गई। सभी लोग आचमन (जल ग्रहण) करते, पान का आनंद लेते और माला-खुशबू से सजते थे, जिससे चारों ओर एक तेजस्वी और आकर्षक वातावरण फैल गया।
English Translation:
Graceful women sang auspicious songs, filling the night with joy and heart-captivating beauty. After the meal, everyone washed their hands, was offered fragrant paans, adorned with fresh flower garlands, and sprinkled with cologne. The entire gathering looked radiant and charming.
भावार्थ:
श्री राम को देखकर और अनुमति पाकर सबने सिर झुकाए और अपने-अपने भवनों को चले गए। उस समय प्रेम, आनंद, उत्सव, गरिमा, सामाजिक सौहार्द और सुंदरता ने वह क्षण भरा हुआ था।
English Translation:
After offering a loving glance at Shri Ram and seeking Dashrath ji’s permission, everyone bowed their heads and departed for their homes. The love, supreme joy, celebration, splendour, harmony, and beauty that emerged at that moment were beyond expression.
भावार्थ:
सैकड़ों सरस्वती, शेष, वेद, ब्रह्मा, महेश और गणेश भी इसे पूर्ण रूप से वर्णन नहीं कर सकते। तो मैं क्या कहूँ? क्या एक छोटा कीड़ा पृथ्वी को अपने सिर पर उठा सकता है?
English Translation:
Even hundreds of Goddess Saraswatis, Lord Sheshas, the Vedas, Lord Brahma, or Lord Shiv could not fully describe it. Tulsidas ji humbly says, “Then how can I attempt to describe it in detail? Can a mere earthworm bear the weight of the Earth on its head?”
भावार्थ:
राजा ने सबका सम्यक् सम्मान किया और मृदु शब्दों में रानियों को बुलाया। कहा, वधुएँ अभी नई और छोटी हैं; उन्हें आंखों की पलक जैसा स्नेहपूर्वक देखभाल करो।
English Translation:
After honouring everyone in every possible way, the King called upon his Queens and spoke in a gentle, affectionate tone: “The brides are young and have just arrived in their new home. Care for them as lovingly and delicately as the eyelids protect the eyes…”
भावार्थ:
लड़के थके हुए और नींद में थे; उन्हें सुला दो। ऐसा कहकर राजा श्री राम के चरणों को हृदय में धारण कर विश्रामगृह में चले गए।
English Translation:
The boys are weary and sleepy; take them to their beds to rest.” With these tender words, Dashrath ji retired to his sleeping chamber, his heart lovingly fixed on the feet of Lord Ram.
भावार्थ:
राजा के सरल और सुखद वचन सुनकर रानियाँ सुनहरे मनोहर, रत्न जड़े पलंग सजाने लगीं, जो शुद्ध और नरम सफेद चादरों से ढके थे, जैसे सुरभी गाय के दूध की फेन हो।
English Translation:
Listening to the King’s gentle and pleasing words, the Queens got luxurious beds prepared which were crafted from gold and adorned with dazzling jewels. They spread soft, beautiful bedding, pure white and delicate, like the froth from Surabhi cow’s milk.
भावार्थ:
तकिये की सुंदरता को शब्दों में नहीं कहा जा सकता। आभूषण मंदिर में पुष्पमाला और सुगंधित वस्तुएं सजी थीं। दीपक रत्नों से जगमगा रहे थे और सुंदर छतरियां थीं, जिसे केवल देखने वाला ही जान सकता है।
English Translation:
The beauty of the pillows was beyond description. The entire sleeping chamber was built from precious stones, adorned with fragrant flowers and garlands. Radiant gem-lit lamps glowed softly beneath elegant canopies. Only the one who saw it could truly grasp its splendour.
भावार्थ:
सुंदर पलंग सजाकर रानियों ने श्री राम को उठाकर प्रेम से बिछाया। श्री राम ने बार-बार अपने भाइयों से आराम करने को कहा और वे अपने-अपने पलंग पर लेट गए।
English Translation:
Having got several beautiful beds prepared like this, the Queens brought Lord Ram and gently laid Him down on one. At Shri Ram’s repeated request, His brothers also went to rest on their respective beds.
भावार्थ:
श्री राम की सुंदर श्यामल देह देखकर सभी माताएं प्रेम से कहने लगीं: “हे पुत्र! तुमने रास्ते में डरावनी ताड़का राक्षसी को कैसे मारा?”
English Translation:
Seeing Lord Ram’s beautiful dark-hued and tender limbs, the Mothers affectionately asked, “O’ Son, tell us, how did you manage to slay that fierce and dreadful demoness Tadka on Your way to the forest?”
भावार्थ:
तुमने भीषण राक्षस मरीच और सुबाहु को कैसे मारा, जो युद्ध में सभी को मात देते थे?
English Translation:
And how did you defeat the wretched Marich and Subahu along with their allies? They were powerful demons and fierce warriors, who considered none to be their equal on the battlefield…
भावार्थ:
हे पुत्र, यह सब मुनि की कृपा से है कि ईश्वर ने तुम्हें अनेक संकटों से बचाया। दोनों भाइयों ने यज्ञ की रक्षा की और मुनि की कृपा से सारा ज्ञान पाया।
English Translation:
“O’ Son, may God bless You! It is only by the grace of Sage Vishwamitra that the Lord shielded You from many calamities. You and Your Brother protected the Sage’s yajna and received Your entire education through his kindness…
भावार्थ:
चरणों की धूलि लगते ही मुनि पत्नी अहल्या तर गई। विश्वभर में यह कीर्ति पूर्ण रीति से व्याप्त हो गई। कच्छप की पीठ, वज्र और पर्वत से भी कठोर शिवजी के धनुष को राजाओं के समाज में तुमने तोड़ दिया!॥2॥
English Translation:
By the mere touch of the dust from your feet, Sage Gautam’s wife was liberated, and Your glory spread throughout the cosmos. In the grand assembly of Kings, You broke Lord Shiv’s bow, hard as the shell of the mighty Tortoise (Kurma Avatar of Lord Narayan, who upheld Mount Mandrachal during the churning of the Ocean), stronger than Indra’s thunderbolt, and tougher than the summit of a mountain (like Mount Kailash)...
भावार्थ:
विश्वविजय के यश और जानकी को पाया और सब भाइयों को ब्याहकर घर आए। तुम्हारे सभी कर्म अमानुषी हैं (मनुष्य की शक्ति के बाहर हैं), जिन्हें केवल विश्वामित्रजी की कृपा ने सुधारा है (सम्पन्न किया है)॥3॥
English Translation:
You earned eternal renown by triumphing over the entire world and winning Janaki’s hand in marriage, then returned home after arranging the weddings of all your Brothers. These extraordinary deeds are beyond human capacity and were only made possible through the grace of Sage Kaushik (Vishwamitra ji)...
भावार्थ:
हे तात! तुम्हारा चन्द्रमुख देखकर आज हमारा जगत में जन्म लेना सफल हुआ। तुमको बिना देखे जो दिन बीते हैं, उनको ब्रह्मा गिनती में न लावें (हमारी आयु में शामिल न करें)॥4॥
English Translation:
Today, our birth in this world has become meaningful, dear Son, as we behold Your Moon-like face. The days we spent without seeing You, may Lord Brahma not count those in the span of our lives.
भावार्थ:
विनय भरे उत्तम वचन कहकर श्री रामचन्द्रजी ने सब माताओं को संतुष्ट किया। फिर शिवजी, गुरु और ब्राह्मणों के चरणों का स्मरण कर नेत्रों को नींद के वश किया। (अर्थात वे सो रहे)॥357॥
English Translation:
Shri Ram pleased all His mothers with gentle, sweet words. Then, fixing His mind on the feet of Lord Shambhu and His Gurus (Vashishth ji and Vishwamitra ji), He closed His eyes and fell asleep.
भावार्थ:
नींद में भी उनका अत्यन्त सलोना मुखड़ा ऐसा सोह रहा था, मानो संध्या के समय का लाल कमल सोह रहा हो। स्त्रियाँ घर-घर जागरण कर रही हैं और आपस में (एक-दूसरे को) मंगलमयी गालियाँ दे रही हैं॥1॥
English Translation:
Even in sleep, Shri Ram’s beautiful face appeared so enchanting, like a red lotus gently closing at dusk. In every home across Ayodhya, the women stayed awake in joyous celebration, singing, chanting, and sharing auspicious names with one another.
भावार्थ:
रानियाँ कहती हैं- हे सजनी! देखो, (आज) रात्रि की कैसी शोभा है, जिससे अयोध्यापुरी विशेष शोभित हो रही है! (यों कहती हुई) सासुएँ सुंदर बहुओं को लेकर सो गईं, मानो सर्पों ने अपने सिर की मणियों को हृदय में छिपा लिया है॥2॥
English Translation:
The Queens said to one another, “O’ Dear, just look how beautifully adorned Ayodhya appears on this glorious night.” Then, embracing the lovely Brides in their arms, they went to sleep, like a serpent drawing the precious jewel from its hood close to its heart.
भावार्थ:
प्रातःकाल पवित्र ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में प्रभु जागे। मुर्गे सुंदर बोलने लगे। भाट और मागधों ने गुणों का गान किया तथा नगर के लोग द्वार पर जोहार करने को आए॥3॥
English Translation:
At the sacred hour of dawn, Lord Ram awoke. Roosters began their melodious crowing, while bards and singers sang praises of His glorious deeds. Meanwhile, citizens gathered at the palace gates to offer their respects.
भावार्थ:
ब्राह्मणों, देवताओं, गुरु, पिता और माताओं की वंदना करके आशीर्वाद पाकर सब भाई प्रसन्न हुए। माताओं ने आदर के साथ उनके मुखों को देखा। फिर वे राजा के साथ दरवाजे (बाहर) पधारे॥4॥
English Translation:
All the Brothers offered their reverence to the Brahmins, Demigods, Gurus, King Dashrath, and their Mothers, joyfully receiving their blessings. As the Princes walked towards the palace gate with the King, the Mothers watched them with affectionate, loving eyes.
भावार्थ:
स्वभाव से ही पवित्र चारों भाइयों ने सब शौचादि से निवृत्त होकर पवित्र सरयू नदी में स्नान किया और प्रातःक्रिया (संध्या वंदनादि) करके वे पिता के पास आए॥358॥
English Translation:
The noble-hearted Brothers performed their morning ablutions and bathed in the sacred Saryu River. After completing their prayers, all four Brothers returned to their father.
